Of all the many events I’ve attended for PCGamesN, BlizzCon is still the most special. Having played Blizzard games since I was a kid, I’d always wanted to venture out to Anaheim to immerse myself in the worlds I hold so dear. Azeroth, Sanctuary, Overwatch 2’s futuristic Earth – my childhood playgrounds brought to vibrant life. But BlizzCon was canceled following the Xbox merger, with its future somewhat uncertain. Today, Blizzard has confirmed that the iconic convention is coming back, but we’ll have to wait a little longer.
In the year following the Xbox merger, we’ve seen Activision Blizzard products promoted during Xbox Direct shows. Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred’s debut trailer (yes, that one) dropped during Xbox’s SGF showcase, for example, alongside the release date for World of Warcraft’s The War Within expansion.
BlizzCon had been canceled prior to the SGF showcase in April of last year, with no real discussion around its potential return. With titans like E3 falling, it felt like BlizzCon was perhaps next on the chopping block, especially in the wake of lukewarm Steam releases for Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. But I have good news for you: BlizzCon is back, and I’m excited to spend yet another weekend celebrating some of the best PC games ever made.

Blizzard has confirmed that BlizzCon will return in 2026. Sure, that’s a little bit of a wait, but it’s exciting nonetheless. It promises “staples like the opening ceremony, in-depth panels, the Darkmoon Faire, friendly competition, hands-on gameplay, and more,” with the goal of “meaningfully elevating this iconic celebration [to] create an unforgettable experience.
“We are building this event just like we build our games: with a deep commitment to our players, with respect for our players’ connections to our universes, and as a celebration of the strength of the bonds formed through shared adventure,” the press release states.
BlizzCon will return to the Anaheim Convention Center from Saturday September 12 through to Sunday September 13 in 2026. You can sign up to the official website to keep track of ticket information.
