Summary

  • Fable 2 is to purchase legitimately on PC.
  • So, a fan is working on a Fable 2 recomp, which would work like an unofficial PC port.
  • This was recently done with Sonic Unleashed, and worked well.

Fable 2 is often the fan favourite of the original trilogy. It holds up nicely too, perfectly playable even 17 years (wow) after its launch on Xbox 360. Well, it’s perfectly playable if you’re on console, because for whatever reason, Fable 2 was the only one in the series to never come to PC.

However, that could finally change. At least one fan is currently working on a Fable 2 recomp, which would act as an unofficial port of the game to PC. We recently saw this done with Sonic Unleashed to fantastic results, so Fable fans are excited by the prospect of Fable 2 getting the same treatment.

This Fable 2 Recomp Could Finally Make The Game Playable On PC

This comes to us courtesy of YouTuber Mattscreative, who shared a video on a Fable 2 Recomp. Here, Mattscreative shares their work so far, and asks for help from the community. They’re also looking to put together a team to work on the Fable 2 recomp, since finally porting the game to PC would be a big undertaking.

While we might be in for a wait, we now know that someone is looking into making this happen. Unfortunately, there’s no word on this happening officially, despite calls from fans.

In fact, many fans want both Fable 2 and 3 to be added to Steam. Fable 3 did get a PC release back in the day, but it’s currently unavailable outside of whatever physical copies you can get your hands on, or some overpriced digital keys.

In the meantime, we have another Fable game coming next year. Perhaps that will give Xbox more of an incentive to make the other games more accessible.
