Summary
- Xbox exclusive Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is due to launch for PS5 sometime in “Spring 2025”.
- As we enter the season, we still don’t have a concrete release date, but a new ESRB rating hints that it might be announced soon.
- Previous reports suggested that Microsoft was aiming for an April release, which would line up with the rating.
Xbox exclusive Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was just rated for PS5 by the ESRB, hinting at an imminent release.
As reported by IGN, this news lines up perfectly with the initial announcement in August last year that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would launch on PS5 a few months later than Xbox Series X/S, sometime in “Spring 2025”.
We haven’t heard anything about the port since then, but a rating like this typically indicates that something will be announced soon. When exactly we can expect that announcement is unclear, but The Verge reporter Tom Warren recently claimed that Microsoft is targeting an April release, so PS5 players could be stepping into Harrison Ford’s boots as soon as next month.
Microsoft’s Changing Approach To Xbox Exclusives
Xbox has been moving away from exclusives for some time now, porting games like Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, and Grounded to its rival console.
It was later announced that The Outer Worlds 2 and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle would join them, with Phil Spencer going as far as to say that there are no “red lines” around flagship titles. There have even been rumours that the Halo Master Chief Collection and Gears of War: E-Day would be launching on PS5, two of Xbox’s heaviest hitters.
Right now, Xbox appears to be handling games on a case-by-case basis. The Outer Worlds 2 is launching at the same time on PS5 and Xbox. There’s no word on an Avowed port. And Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was a timed exclusive. There’s no definitive strategy to pinpoint, but one thing is at least clear: Xbox is moving away from exclusives almost altogether.
