World of Warcraft adds several new factions to the list of reputations that are shared across an account’s Warband in The War Within Patch 11.1.5.
However, there is another useful feature coming in Patch 11.1.5 that was not revealed in the official blog post. The update is currently available on the Public Test Realm, meaning players now have a first look at some of the features in the patch, including a new option for fans to change their guild’s name without using World of Warcraft‘s paid Guild Name Change game service. This option can be used once a year per guild for a fee of gold deducted directly from the guild’s bank, though it seems like there will be a short period in which the change can be canceled, and the price refunded.
In-Game Guild Rename Service in WoW Patch 11.1.5
At present, the gold cost for changing a guild’s name is not yet known, but it will almost certainly be cheaper than the game service. The paid Guild Name Change costs $20 – the same price as a single WoW Token. The average cost of these tokens has averaged around 250,000 gold recently, though that price fluctuates and spikes during some promotions, such as the $90 Gilded Caravan Brutosaur mount that emptied the World of Warcraft auction house of WoW Tokens. As long as this in-game service costs less than a WoW Token, it would be a much better option than its paid counterpart.
This in-game guild name change will be done at the Guild Masters spread across various capital cities from Vanilla WoW or The Burning Crusade, as well as in Shattrath and Wrath of the Lich King Dalaran. Like the paid Guild Name Change, only a guild leader is authorized to use this feature.
