Rocks D. Xebex is one of the most powerful pirates to have ever existed in One Piece. He might have a son.

When it comes to Buggy, Oda seems to be cooking up a rather staggering take, and once it is all public, fans will have their jaws on the floor. Buggy is a character full of life, and intrigue, and he also holds some of the biggest secrets of the world. Oda often uses him for comedic purposes in the story, but Buggy is far more than just a gag, and his true value will shine in the final segment of the story, where everything about him, from his connection to the Roger Pirates, and his true past and identity will finally be revealed to the fans.

Why Buggy’s True Identity Is Hidden

Strong Evidence Suggests Buggy Is Hiding His True Name

Buggy is one of the most important characters in One Piece, and one who has maintained this role right from the very beginning. Buggy was the first real test that Luffy faced on his journey as a pirate, and even more value was placed on his head when it was made known that he was actually linked to Shanks and that they’re essentially sworn brothers. Buggy’s lore deepens even further when one realizes that, just like Shanks, he’s a member of the Roger Pirates and that he’s spent years upon years with them. Clearly, Buggy is a character with a ton of intrigue and fans know that he will be getting more highlights through fate, just as he has so far.

If you become the Pirate King then I must be God or something! — Buggy

He became important during the Impel Down arc, where, through sheer luck, he came to be known as the savior, and he even became important during the Paramount War arc, where he stood neck and neck with Whitebeard, or at least that’s what his followers saw. He was revealed to be a very important man, and eventually offered the position of Shichibukai. And two years later, when the Shichibukai system was abolished, Buggy was then made a Yonko. Clearly, his luck keeps working for him, and even more than that, Oda has big plans for him in the story.

Coming over to his identity, fans often don’t pay special attention to the red-nosed clown, but there are definitely hints out there that suggest Buggy could be more than just Buggy the Clown. In fact, evidence suggests that even his real name is hidden, and of course, that most certainly does imply that Buggy is a D as well.

In 2019, One Piece collaborated with Made in World, and they had Buggy’s very own T-shirt with the following description:

His real name and true face are still unknown, making him a character shrouded in mystery.

This is an official collab that One Piece did, and the statement in itself states that Buggy is hiding his real identity. But this isn’t the only clue. In One Piece chapter 1095 cover request, fans see Oda draw a monkey steak Buggy’s very own red nose. This red nose has been believed by many to be Buggy’s own, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Buggy’s actual nose is hidden, and his real face is covered in paint, which just goes to show that Buggy’s real identity isn’t what fans perceive it to be.

Buggy’s Mysterious Past And Connection To God Valley

Buggy was Born 39 Years Ago

If there’s one thing that fans know about the events from 40 or so years ago, it is that every figure during this time period was heavily influenced by the God Valley Incident. The God Valley Incident took place 38 years ago in the One Piece world, and it was during this event that the Rocks Pirates met their end. The Roger Pirates were also heavily involved, and fans know that so we’re the Marines and the God’s Knights.

It’s been long since we’ve had kids onboard, right Rayleigh? — Roger

One thing that fans always need to keep in mind is that Buggy and Shanks always work in conjunction. For the longest time, fans didn’t believe Shanks to be connected to the God Valley Incident, but eventually, it was confirmed that he was indeed linked to it. The God’s Knights, including Saint Garling Figarland, were present on God Valley, and with him were his twin children, Shamrock Figarland and Shanks, or whatever the original name for him was supposed to be. These two were separated on God Valley, and it is here that the Roger Pirates mistakenly took Shanks, who was inside a treasure chest, to the Oro Jackson. Shanks was raised on Roger’s ship ever since then.

Oda just showcased a dark Nika in One Piece. His role will be major in the future.

But, fans also know that Shanks and Buggy were raised together on Oro Jackson and they grew up like brothers. What’s more, Shanks is 39 years old, and so is Buggy. Furthermore, Roger himself confirmed that they hadn’t had kids on the Oro Jackson for a while when Oden brought Hiyori and Momonosuke with him after the switch to Oro Jackson. The fact that he said Kids clearly meant that they had two babies onboard once, and of course, fans know them to be Shanks and Buggy. So, if Shanks came from God Valley, where did Buggy come from? The answer is, also God Valley. Just as Shanks was taken from an enemy, Buggy too was taken from an enemy.

Buggy Could Be The Son Of Rocks D. Xebec

The Son Of Rocks D. Xebec Could’ve Been Taken

Shortly before the God Valley Incident, it was made clear to the fans that something of high-value was stolen from the Pirate Island, which was the place of ruling for Rocks D. Xebec. To retrieve it, the Rocks Pirates set out. It isn’t made clear what exactly it was, but it could easily have been some treasure, and with it, mistakenly, a child. Rocks went to God Valley and died. Garling fought in God Valley and lost Shanks. Shanks was taken by the Roger Pirates, but Buggy was taken by someone else, likely Garp. To protect his identity and prevent his execution, Garp likely handed over Buggy to Roger, just as Roger handed over Ace to him.

Rocks D. Xebec Laughing

That’s likely how Buggy came to be raised alongside Shanks, with his true identity being unknown. Buggy most certainly had D lineage, and his real name, as well as his real face, which most certainly would resemble Rocks, is still unknown at this point. Hopefully, Oda will reveal it soon.
