We Now Know What Damian Wayne Would've Looked Like In Canceled Batman Game

Summary

  • More concept art for a Damian Wayne-centered Batman game has been shared online.
  • In it, an old-man version of Bruce Wayne, plus an older version of Killer Croc and a young Damian Wayne are shown.
  • Elsewhere, an upgradeable Batbike is also on display, showcasing some of the ideas behind the scrapped game.

Before WB Montreal released Gotham Knights in late 2022, the team was actually working on a sequel to Arkham Knight — one that would’ve put Damian Wayne at the center, complete with a Batbike and an old-man version of Bruce Wayne.

Rocksteady Deserves Better Than A New Batman Game

After a decade, Rocksteady is reportedly returning to Batman.

Now, via some newly released concept art, courtesy of Rodrigue Pralier, a senior character artist at Free Range Games, we now have our best look at what could have been had the game gone into full production.

Damian Is Moody And Broody

Over on ArtStation, a website dedicated to learning about and hosting art, several pieces of art give us a small glimpse at the world that was being created. For one, Damian appears to be very young, with Bruce Wayne being practically a dinosaur, complete with some nasty scars and a reliance on a cane.

As far as villains are concerned, Killer Croc is shown, and he also appears a lot older. According to previous reporting, Two-Face and Black Mask would’ve also been villains, though art for them is not present. In another interesting bit, Huntress is also part of the concept art, showcasing both her suit and cowl. It’s unclear whether she would have been a playable character, similar to Catwoman, or simply another member of the story.

Beyond that, a separate artist, Daniel Simon, recently shared a piece of concept art for the Batbike. Of course, the bike did become part of Gotham Knights, though Simon does note his vision for an upgrade-like system, where an armored shield that folds like bat wings would be an option.

Ultimately, it’s unclear why the game was scrapped in favor of Gotham Knights. Previously, actor Josh Keaton, who was set to voice Damian Wayne, alleged, “The leaks killed the project.” However, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier refuted that claim shortly after. Either way, it’s a fascinating look at how Batman was being envisioned for the future.
