Summary
- EA Motive is giving a lecture at GDC 2025 next week, discussing Dead Space and the upcoming Iron Man game.
- Skydance New Media gave us our first look at Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra during last year’s GDC, and the same could happen for EA Motive and Iron Man.
- The lecture takes place on March 17 at 11:10pm PDT.
Three years ago, EA Motive announced that it was working on a standalone Iron Man game, furthering its collaboration with Disney after Star Wars: Squadrons. We haven’t heard much about the project since, but that might finally change next week.
As discovered by u/Spiderbyte on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, EA Motive and SEED “will present their learnings developing ‘Texture Sets’ for Dead Space, Iron Man, and more” at GDC on March 17.
The lecture will take place at 4:10pm PDT (11:10pm GMT), and lasts one hour.
Skydance New Media similarly showcased Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra during GDC 2024 (which might release as soon as this Christmas), and a snippet of the lecture was posted online, giving us our first look at Khary Payton in the role of Black Panther. EA Motive may do the same, finally giving us a proper look at its upcoming Iron Man game.
What Do We Know About Iron Man So Far?
So far, we know that the new Iron Man game will tell an original story, separate from the comics and MCU, and that it’s being led by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy producer Olivier Proulx.

The initial press release didn’t give much more insight about what to expect, but a job listing from 2023 did give us a better idea of what the moment-to-moment gameplay might look like.
It called for a developer experienced in “open world and non-linear dialogue”, so it appears as though Iron Man will be an open-world sandbox akin to Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The team made excellent progress this year, hitting a major internal milestone and laying a robust foundation for the journey ahead. Iron Man is an important priority for Motive, and I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished so far — general manager Patrick Klaus in 2024.
That’s about all we know so far. There’s no word on who’s playing Tony Stark, what the combat and customisation will look like, or which villains might appear. Hopefully, we’ll get concrete answers to some of these questions next week.
