Top Of The Food Chain Achievement Guide In Monster Hunter Wilds

There are a lot of monsters for players to find and hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds, with even more unlocking after you finish the base game and unlock the endgame content. During the base game, you’ll come face to face with all the Apex Predators of each region, which pose the biggest threat compared to anything else you’ll find.

Apex Predators are at the top of the food chain and usually are the most interesting monsters to fight, with a secret achievement being linked to killing them. Top Of The Food chain requires players to kill 50 Apex Predators, here’s which ones fall into that category.

All Apex Predators In Monster Hunter Wilds

In total, there are four Apex Predators for the first four regions of the game. Each of them usually only comes out during inclement weather, which can be changed whenever you want at your tent in High Rank. These monsters pose the biggest threat, and you often won’t receive any help from other monsters wandering the region as they’ll usually be easily dealt with by the Apex predator.

Each of these monsters has a unique entry in the Field Journal stating them to be at the top of the food chain in their respective regions, and they’ll only appear in that region. No matter which of these monsters you choose to fight, this achievement will be difficult and also take a lot of time. You can easily track down any of the Apex Predators without costing Guild Points to alter the weather by accepting and completing optional tasks that ask you to hunt that specific monster.

Just by completing the main story, you’ll unlock quests to hunt down the first three Apex Predators despite killing all four at some point. Realistically, to get this achievement, you can kill the same Apex Predator 46 times since you’ll get four during the main story.

Is There An Apex Predator In Ruins Of Wyveria In Monster Hunter Wilds

arkveld in monster hunter wilds

At the time of writing, there is no Apex Predator for the Ruins of Wyveria. While the Arkveld seems like it may be, it is not noted as an Apex Predator in the same way the above monsters are. A direct reason may not be given, but it could be tied to the Guardians upsetting the natural ecosystem of this area and there not being an Apex Predator sitting at the top of them.
