How to Get Skill Mastery Perks in The Sims 4

TS4 How To Get Mastery Perk

There are a few methods of obtaining skill mastery perks in the Sims 4. Generally speaking, they can be obtained gradually while simply playing the game and focusing on certain activities or interactions:

  • Performing activities with a Sim who already has a high-level skill in that activity can unlock Skill Mastery Perks. For example, a Sim with maxed-out Fitness may have the chance to obtain the Second Wind perk while exercising. This triggers a pop-up chance card, allowing players to decide whether to acquire the mastery perk. Elder Sims have a higher likelihood of obtaining a Skill Mastery perk while engaging in activities.
  • Skill Mastery Perks can be bestowed by Elder Sims. If an Elder Sim has any unlocked perks, they can bestow them upon another Sim through an interaction with the chosen Sim. Alternatively, other Sims can request to receive a perk from an Elder Sim. This feature works both ways, ensuring flexibility in cases where one of the Sims are not actively controlled.
  • Drinking Mastery Perk Bestower Potion From Rewards Store. “Sims can purchase this potion for 8,000 Satisfaction Points and select any Mastery Perk from the list, provided they have not reached the cap of four Mastery Perks. Additionally, the potion can be gifted to other Sims, in case the desired Sim doesn’t have enough Satisfaction Points yet.

It’s also possible to add the desired Mastery Perk through cheats – the same way adding any other trait. In this case, players will need to write: traits.equip_trait trait_MasteryPerk_{perkname} to add the Mastery Perk. The name of the trait will typically be without any space in between.

How to Remove Mastery Perk

TS4 How To Remove Mastery Perk

Removing a Mastery Perk might become necessary if a Sim wants to focus on different benefits. Currently, there are two ways to remove a Mastery Perk. The first is by purchasing the Mastery Perk Remover potion for 100

Satisfaction Points
. The second option is through cheats—players simply need to replace the ‘equip’ part of the cheat code with ‘remove’ to successfully remove the perk.

Best Mastery Perks To Choose

While the best mastery perks to choose will highly depend on the specific Sim and player preferences, a few interesting options to consider include:

  • Skillful Sleep: Unless the Sim has Never Weary trait, they will need to sleep occasionally, and with the Skillfull Sleep ability unlocked, they can simply learn skills even while sleeping.
  • Spacebender: Allows Sims to teleport with “Spacebend here” interaction. While this could be rather redundant for some Sims, particularly Occults that already have this ability through their occult perks, it can be handy for others.
  • Secret Spice / Final Touch: Useful for certain Sims, if they are making money through foods or drinks or other crafted items – could be useful for Sims in businesses that are focusing on selling high-quality items.
  • Stellar Stamina: Energy depletes much slower, particularly useful for Elder Sims to ensure they do not die from Exhaustion.
