There have been rumblings that The Lord Of The Rings will be getting a third big set some time this year, and now that has been confirmed via a first look at the next addition to the LOTR collection. As expected, the series’ third Lego set will be based on The Shire, and even though it will be the smallest yet, it’s still pretty pricey.
Lego hasn’t officially revealed its next LOTR set yet, but thanks to an image and some core details being shared a little early before being pulled right away, the info is out there. Falconbricks managed to grab the first image of the new set as well as some additional details, confirming it will have Bag End at its center with various other elements from Hobbiton surrounding it.

According to the since deleted listing, The Shire set will consist of 2,017 pieces and cost $199.99. In the grand scheme of things, that’s one of Lego’s bigger, more expensive sets. However, when compared to the two other Lord of the Rings sets you can buy right now, it’s an absolute steal.
The Lord Of The Rings’ Third Lego Set Will Be Based On The Shire
The First Image Of The Set Has Been Revealed Early
Lego rekindled its relationship with The Lord Of The Rings in 2023 via the release of a Rivendell set. An incredibly detailed toy brick recreation of the Elven hub, Lego’s Rivendell set takes more than 6,000 bricks to complete and costs $500. The Barad-dur set that followed a year later is smaller, but not much smaller. Just shy of 5,500 pieces with a $460 price tag.
That means the upcoming Shire set is less than half the size in terms of both price and size, so even though it’s still pretty expensive, it’s the most affordable Lord of the Rings set of the modern era by quite some way. You don’t have long to wait for it to get here either with a leaked release date of April 1, 2025. Better start saving now.
Lego appears to be releasing new Lord of the Rings sets at a rate of one per year, its Shire set the third in three years, and all of them releasing at roughly the same time each year. Last year’s Barad-dur set came with a smaller Fellbeast set for a limited time. Hopefully The Shire set will come with a free set too.
Today has been a big one for expensive leaked Lego sets that Lego itself isn’t quite ready to officially reveal. A new Mario Kart set similar in size to the Shire one found its way online thanks to a listing going live too early. That one will probably be officially revealed within the next few hours since today is Mario Day.
