Another new update for Fallout 76 is coming soon, the Season 20 and Ghoul Within update, set to arrive on March 18. This new update will introduce the franchise’s first-ever playable Ghoul character, new balancing changes, and several additional features in Fallout 76, giving both new and returning players new content to explore.
Among some of the balancing changes anticipated to arrive in Fallout 76’s Season 20 update is a buff that will give players a significantly increased Strength attribute while wearing Power Armor in Fallout 76. Fallout 76’s Season 20 Power Armor Buff Explained
Alongside the playable Ghoul character and other features, new balancing changes are coming in Fallout 76’s Season 20 and Ghoul Within update. After the update, all Power Armor sets will grant players +10 Strength. Given how the Strength SPECIAL attribute works in Fallout 76, this buff will have two separate effects.
This buff is based on information from Fallout 76’s Public Test Server for the upcoming Season 20 and the Ghoul Within update, and it is subject to change before arriving in the live version of the game.
High Strength is Great for Melee Builds in Fallout 76
Every point of Strength provides players with around 5% additional melee damage, so the +10 Strength buff coming to all Power Armor sets in the Season 20 update will provide around 50% extra damage for every type of melee weapon, including unarmed melee builds in Fallout 76. This powerful buff can either give a much-needed boost to certain underperforming melee weapons, or it can make some of the best melee weapons even stronger.
High Strength Increases Players’ Carry Weight in Fallout 76
Not only does players’ Strength determine players’ damage with melee weapons, but it also affects players’ carry weight in Fallout 76. With the +10 Strength buff coming in the Season 20 update, this will provide around 50 extra pounds of carry weight. Much like the melee buff, this extra carry weight is a noticeable buff on its own, and it can be stacked with similar buffs from consumables, Perk Cards, or armor/weapon mods for optimal inventory management.
Among the different sets of Power Armor in Fallout 76, certain sets provide unique set bonuses for players who wear the full suit of armor. Despite some of these set bonuses arguably being better suited for combat than others, many players prefer to use one of the Power Armor sets with a set bonus that provides increased carry weight. Inventory management is a never-ending challenge in Fallout 76, but this upcoming buff for Power Armor could truly shake things up for players who use Power Armor.

With the +10 Strength buff for Power Armor coming soon, players with Power Armor builds will ultimately have two great choices ahead of them. On one hand, this buff could allow players to respec their builds without losing any of their existing carry weight since they will have an additional 50 pounds of carry weight naturally added. Alternatively, players can remain committed to their current builds and have even more carry weight at their disposal. Either way, this upcoming buff is a godsend for Power Armor builds in Fallout 76.
