Through the many tales that have been passed down from generations, and at the same time, the myths from the Harley, Nika is an idea that fans know a lot more about now. At the same time, Oda has also introduced other elements of Nika to the story, such as a much darker version of the Warrior of Liberation, or simply Dark Nika.

The Concept Of Dark Nika Is Valid

  • The Idea Stems From Mistranslations In Harley
  • Nika Is Perceived By Some As A Destroyer

Although the concept of Dark Nika might seem rather ridiculous to some, it is perfectly valid when considering the legends flavoring in Elbaf for generations. Nika is a god who is believed to have existed long ago.

First World

Flames engulfed the land, and humans succumbed to their desires, touching the forbidden Sun. The enslaved prayed, and the Sun God appeared. The Earth God was enraged, and together with the serpent of infernal flames, shrouded the world in death and darkness. They would never meet again.

Second World

Breath stirred within the void, and the Forest God sent forth demons. The Sun did nothing but spread the fires of war. The people of the half-moon dreamed, the people of the full-moon dreamed. Humans slew the Sun and became Gods, and the Sea God raged. They Would never meet again.

Third World

In chaos, there is void. The troubled shadow remembers the promised day, and hears the voice of the fractured moon. The Sun God dances and laughs, leading the world to its end. The sun will return once more, and a new dawn will arrive. Surely, this time, they will meet again.

According to the Harley, Nika, the Sun God, came upon the world during the First World, and it is there that it fought the God of the Earth and the Serpent of Hellfire. Eventually, the world was destroyed and life itself was destroyed. In the Second World, it is said that Nika came once again, and fans know that it happened through Joy Boy, who consumed the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. He fought Imu and the other Kings, and together, with his allies, led the Ancient Kingdom in the war against the darkness. This time as well, humanity slayed the Sun and the world perished into darkness. As fans know, the World of One Piece was utterly destroyed, having sunk 200 meters under the ocean. Many believe it to be Nika’s doing, and this is clear based on how the Giants of Elbaf talk about Nika.

According to the Harley, our world has already been destroyed twice in the past. — Elder Jarul

If there’s one thing that’s certain, it is that Nika is considered by all to descend upon the world in time of need of the people, through their wishes and those of the slaves of the world. When the corrupt and the rulers enjoy power and oppress the common folk, Nika always arrives and answers their call. The distinction lies in what Nika does after. Some believe Nika to be a liberator, just as Luffy has been described to be a Warrior of Liberation. Some others believe that Nika is the ruler of the whole world, and some think Nika is the Destroyer of the World and the one who plunges it into chaos and darkness. Some even believe that Nika is the God of Laughter, and all things considered, what is clear is that many versions of Nika existed in mythology, based on the interpretation of the Harley.

As such, it is mo surprise to know that a Dark Nika could exist too. In the minds of many, Nika is the God of Destruction who plunges the world into darkness. Many believe him to hold this power.

How Nika Emerged From The Nightmares Of Children

The Children Fear Nika As A Destroyer

In One Piece chapter 1142, fans could see Nika once again in the story, only this time, Nika showed himself as a destroyer. This Nika stemmed directly from the nightmares of the children of Elbaf. In Walrus School, the children were asked to draw their worst nightmares, and to the surprise of nobody, Nika was seen as one of the scariest things ever by the children. Some children clearly believe that Nika will come and destroy the world one day, as do many adults of the One Piece world.

These nightmares were then brought to life using the power of Saint Sommers, who seems to have the ability to bring the worst nightmares of people to life.

These are the children’s worst nightmares being brought to life! — Ange

As the attack of the Holy Knights began, the children’s worst nightmares started manifesting, and they eventually attacked Elbaf. The World Serpent, Jormungandr, was first seen attacking the Walrus School, and it required the joint effort of Saul and Kiba to be taken down. The others are only just manifesting, and they include the power of mighty mythological entities such as Fenrir, Draugr, Nidhoggr, and even Loki himself, along with the likes of Nika, or Dark Nika, as this version of the Sun God is essentially seen as the Destroyer of the World, including Elbaf.

Can Two Nika Devil Fruits Exist?

The Idea Isn’t Impossible

While there exist the dreams of children and many adults even pertaining to a Dark Nika, could the concept truly be real? Fans don’t know for now, but it is entirely possible. Looking at what Vegapunk stated about Devil Fruit, they’re simply a result of the dreams and hopes of humanity and wishes for a certain future. Every Devil Fruit that exists in the One Piece world is a result of a different form of evolution that someone desires. If Nika exists as two people, one that is a Warrior of Liberation and God of Laughter, and the other that is essentially a harbinger of disaster and God of Destruction, then it is entirely possible for there to exist two Nika Devil Fruit, as the polar opposites of each other, because different people could’ve wished for either version of Nika. Just as Luffy is the Warrior of Liberation, Loki could have the other half of the power as the Warrior of Destruction.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1143, is set to be March 23, 2025.
