The biggest event in Street Fighter esports has wrapped up this weekend, the Capcom Cup 11 Finals. After a whole season of player, Kakeru has claimed victory in the 2024 Capcom Pro Tour! This year, the event went to Tokyo, where 48 of the world’s best Street Fighter players joined in one place.
Everyone at this tournament has proven themselves the best players in fighting game esports. However, only one can claim the big prize. Which thanks to a strange system for prize distribution, means they take the majority of the prize money. How did things go at the Capcom Cup 11 Finals?

Capcom Cup 11 Concludes with Kakeru Win
The final of the Pro Tour began with the group stage, a harsh round where the majority of competitors get whittled away. There were some stand outs already in the Group Stage, like Blaz who won all 5 matches 5-0. Along with Fuudo who managed the same feet. Kakeru only lost once, but he did have a competitive group with Tokido, and others, to play against off the bat.
After the group stage, players were seed into the Capcom Cup 11 Finals bracket. Here, Kakeru absolutely came alive. He won his first match against Blaz 3-0. Followed by the same result in the Semis against NoahTheProdigy. Gliding through some of the best Street Fighter players. The same again in the Winners Final against Leshar. Securing his place in the Grand Final without much resistance.
Of course, this is a wide tournament, and Kakeru wasn’t the only player distinguishing themselves. AngryBird’s impressive run through the Losers bracket nearly looked like he could go all the way, but he was ultimately knocked out for good against Blaz. That player proceeded to make it all the way through to the Capcom Cup Finals’ last match.

The Grand Final began with Kakeru taking the first round 201, before dropping one to Blaz. However, after things we got much smoother. Kakeru won the next two 2-1. No dramatic bracket reset here, the player claimed his title playing JP the whole way through.
Kakeru is the best Street Fighter 6 player of the year! And takes a huge share of the prize money along with qualification to next year’s finals.
Between now and then though, we’ve got a bunch of Street Fighter tournaments to find a new selection of players. There’s plenty of room for other competitors to rise up over this the next year to compete in the Capcom Cup 12 and take on Kakeru.
