While the game is easier as a whole, these encounters should offer players a significant challenge.
While the earlier stages of the campaign in Monster Hunter Wilds can be easily passed through using the supplies the game provides the player during a mission, as players begin to venture into the harder ranks of monster hunting, they will need to start bringing their own supplies in their item pouch. No matter what monster the player is facing, these are the items a player should always have on hand to make those fights much easier.

Whetfish Fins
Sharpen A Weapon Much Faster
Players can easily sharpen their weapons using their Whetstone. A player will be required to consistently sharpen their melee weapon if they hope to deal a decent amount of damage to the monster they are facing.
While it may be easy to sharpen a weapon while chasing after the monster they are hunting on the back of their Seikret, there can be some moments when players don’t have enough time. Thankfully, players are able to go fishing to catch some Whetfish. The fins of these fishes can then be used in replacement of a whetstone, with the player needing to do fewer strokes to fully sharpen it.
7
Demondrug
Increases The Player’s Damage
Players can easily increase the amount of damage they do by crafting better weaponry. However, sometimes a player needs a little extra boost to their damage output, especially when taking on the harder monsters of Monster Hunter Wilds. Therefore, another item a player should always have on hand is Demondrug.
Combining a Catalyst and a Might Seed will create this valuable elixir, which, when consumed, gives the player demonic strength. A player’s attack power is temporarily boosted to allow them to hit for an even higher amount of base damage.

Shock Traps
Can Capture A Monster For A Quicker Experience
Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds may not be the most beneficial thing to do, but those who are looking to quickly deal with a monster without killing them should make the most of the traps and tranq bombs in the hope of speeding an encounter.

Besides using traps to permanently capture a monster, hunting items like Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps should also be permanently in the player’s item pouch as they can also be used to stun a monster in place to give the player an easier time attacking them.

Support Heal Items
Remove Various Status Effects Like Poison Or Sleep
Besides the usual brute force damage done by monsters, various enemies the player challenges will also have other moves and abilities that may cause the player to suffer from various status effects.
To be prepared for these moments, a player should supply themselves with various support healing items in advance, such as Antidotes, Energy Drinks, and Nulberrys. Those who wish to invest a little more in their healing items may also wish to create medicines like Herbal Medicine, which not only cures the status effect but also gives the player a little health back.

Flash Pods
The Majority Of Monsters Can Be Blinded
There is an abundance of Sling Ammo for players to collect and craft in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s important for players to keep a few of this ammo in their Item Pouch at all times, with one of the most important in Wilds being the Flash Pod. Players can hold three of these at a time in their pouch and can be used to blind a monster they are attacking.
While some monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds may be immune to Flash Pods, there are plenty of monsters that are susceptible enough to make this a must-have item, especially when taking on flying foes that don’t want to come down. A single Flash Pod will have them plummeting to the ground blinded.
3
Well-done Steak
Eating Replenishes Stamina And Health
Cooking has returned in all its glory in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, meals aren’t the only thing players should be paying attention to, as they should make sure to supply themselves with both Rations and Well-done Steak.

With five giant areas to explore in total, players won’t leave this game wanting more.
The longer a player is in an exhibition or hunting a monster, the more likely they are to see their Stamina and Health bars permanently drop, meaning the player has much less of both. By having Well-done Steak in hand, a player can replenish both their stamina and health bar by a fraction to allow themselves to have max bars once more.
2
Armor And Power Charms
They Should Always Be Kept In The Player’s Item Pouch
An item that gives the player a permanent buff as long as it’s in their Item Pouch is something a player should never remove from their inventory.
As players progress into the endgame of Monster Hunter Wilds, they will receive two option quests that will reward them with the Armorcharm and the Powercharm. By carrying the charms in their Item Pouch, the player will increase both their defense and overall power to add a bonus that players never need to replenish.

An Assortment Of Healing Potions
Mega Potions Will Heal A Large Chunk Of Health
Unsurprisingly, one of the most important items for players to always have on hand is a variety of healing potions, especially Mega Potions. While the player may be given a small handful of potions when starting a hunt, players should be sure to bring along their own also.
Mega Potions also heal a lot more than a regular potion and therefore become even more essential during higher-rank hunts where the monsters the players are facing deal a lot more damage. Making sure to have a full inventory of Mega Potions, while also having the ingredients to craft more, is essential for those hoping to survive in Monster Hunter Wilds.
