Monster Hunter Wilds fans have found a pretty inventive way to deal with the Jin Dahaad’s infamous nova blast. Instead of using your slinger to knock down the big ceiling rocks and hide behind them for cover… what if you just fast travel?
As u/Fat_Foot discovered, there’s more than enough time to open your map, select the base camp, and get out of dodge while they’re preparing the attack. Once you’ve retreated to safety, you can venture back out and continue your fight having completely avoided the blast. Granted, it’s a lot slower than just hunkering down behind cover, but it’s a surefire way to survive. And you can even restock at camp before heading back out.
Boss takes so long to charge the attack that the hunter leaves to take a nap, coffee and then come back — u/ShirouBlue.
It’s a clever way to get around an annoying attack, but the community is actually calling on Capcom to patch out this strategy so that people can’t worm their way out of the fight when the going gets tough.
I hate you for even trying this — u/Codename_Dutch.
“I hope they fix this ngl,” u/giga___hertz said. “I had no clue you could fast travel mid fight, that’s pretty dumb,” u/Codename_Oreo added. “Why are we allowed to fast travel mid combat to begin with,” u/Ligeia_E commented.
Whether Capcom will patch it or not, we’ll have to wait and see. But not everyone is up in arms over the cheese. Take u/nio151: “Don’t understand why people are mad at this when Farcasters are cheap to make and work even faster with the radial menu.” Others, however, argue that this whole strategy just makes Farcasters, which summon a little wingdrake to carry you back to camp, null and void.
Hey, it wouldn’t be cheese if series veterans didn’t get annoyed, eh?
