Along with that, we also got a look at the Death Stranding 2 Collector’s edition, for which pre-orders will go live on March 17, 2025, and will ship on June 26. The Collector’s Edition includes a lot of physical and digital goodies that will appeal to Death Stranding fans. However, as with many such editions, it will not feature a physical disc.
What’s Included In The Death Stranding 2 Collector’s Edition?
Collector’s editions launching with a digital code instead of a disc has become prevalent in the last few years, and it seems Death Stranding 2 will be following suit with its own version. While the edition offers a lot in terms of physical and in-game items, you’ll have to buy a physical copy separately if you want a disc.
The centrepiece of the collector’s edition is a 15-inch statue of the Magellan Man, with his gooey wings and robotic head recreated in great detail. Along with that is a 3-inch Dollman figurine, art cards, and even a letter from Kojima himself. In-game items include an early unlock of the machine gun, three different cosmetic patches, and gold variants of the Battle, Boost, and Bokka exo-skeletons.
As you can imagine, fans aren’t too happy that this undoubtedly expensive collector’s edition doesn’t include a disc. It’s being viewed as a way to rake in revenue, as those who want a disc will have to separately buy a physical edition on top of the collector’s edition. The sentiment can be seen in the comments section of Koojima Productions’ tweet.
At least it isn’t as bad as some editions which give you a Steelbook case without a disc inside it.
