Avowed is not an easy game to 100-percent complete. With numerous achievements tied to specific choices, quests, and dialogue options, it is incredibly easy to miss one without even realizing it. The Living Lands are filled with hidden secrets and critical points of no return, making some achievements permanently lost if you progress too far in the main storyline. Since a full completion requires multiple playthroughs, it is best to know which achievements you can unlock along the way to save yourself from endless backtracking. This guide breaks down every missable achievement in Avowed and how to unlock them before it is too late.

Can You Complete All Missable Achievements in Avowed in One Playthrough?
While you can always load older save files to unlock a few achievements here and there, obtaining all missable achievements requires extensive backtracking, making it almost equivalent to a second playthrough. To save yourself a massive headache, it is far better to simply start a fresh run.
Many of these achievements are incredibly easy to miss as they depend on choosing specific dialogues, triggering events, and completing quests before progressing too far into the game. So, no, it is practically impossible to unlock all missable achievements in Avowed in a single playthrough.
For your convenience, we have ordered all the missable achievements by region and related quests. However, providing detailed explanations for unlocking each achievement involves significant spoilers for Avowed. Proceed with caution.
Fort Northreach Missable Achievements
1. Hawkeye (On Strange Shores Quest)
“Find the hidden room in Fort Northreach.”
Surprising as it is, the tutorial section of Avowed has a hidden achievement. When you reach the room with the large green crystal, head through the hole in the wall on your right. Notice the blood on the floor leading straight into the wall. You can also see an enemy marker on the other side. Hit the switch on the left of the wall to open the secret door. This is probably the easiest missable achievement to get because you only have to spend a few extra minutes after starting a new playthrough.
Dawnshore Missabale Achievements
1. Get in the Statue, Envoy (Dawntreader Quest)
“Contemplate death.”
You have to make two choices to unlock this missable achievement in Avowed. Once you have the Splinter of Eothas in your hands, go to Sargamis and agree to put the relic in the giant statue. However, nothing will happen after you pull the lever. Speak with Sargamis again, but this time, offer to put your soul in the statue. You will die, but it will be worth another step towards a 100-percent completion.
2. Historian (Dawntreader Quest)
“Collect all volumes of the History of the Living Lands in the Eothasian Temple.”
What makes this a missable achievement in Avowed is that you cannot return to the temple after completing Dawntreader. So, make sure to get all five History of the Living Lands books before leaving the Eothasian Temple.
3. A Cistern Warning (An Untimely End Quest)
“Confront your assassin in the Cistern.“
Ygwulf is the assassin who fired an arrow at you when you first entered through the main gates of Paradis. After tracking him down in the cistern beneath the Temple of Ondra, choose to kill Ygwulf instead of sparing him as revenge for his earlier assassination attempt.
4. Everyone Disliked That (The Siege of Paradis)
“Have every companion leave your party as a result of siding with the Steel Garrote.”
You will return to Dawnshore after dealing with Sapadal in the ending chapters of Avowed. When speaking to Ambassador Falseen Hylgard, choose to stand with Lodwyn and the Steel Garrote.
Emerald Stair Missabale Achievements
1. Retirement Plan (The Animancy Method Quest)
“Sell your future corpse to Elia.”
Elia has a revenant farm in the southern part of Emerald Stair. When you approach her the first time, she will be crouching over a revenant corpse. Do not speak to her right away! Instead, interact with the corpse to get a Blighted Crop.
Now, speak with Elia and ask where all these corpses come from when the dialogue comes up. Following that, ask if she would be interested in buying your future corpse to end the conversation.
2. Play Dead (The Animancy Method Quest)
“Wear Necropants and a Revenant Bell Collar at the same time.”
This one is directly tied to the Retirement Plan achievement. You get the Revenant Bell Collar from Elia as a reward for dealing with Silvo. If you do not offer your future corpse during your first conversation, Elia will only reward you with some coins for dealing with Silvo.
Next, fast-travel to Tago’s Tower Beacon in Shatterscarp. Head to the ruins north of here and climb the fallen pillar to find a chest containing the Necropants. It can be opened with three lockpicks. Now, open your inventory and wear both the Revenant Bell Collar and Necropants to unlock the achievement.
It is easy to trigger a conversation with Elia after entering Emerald Stair for the first time. Messing up that initial conversation costs you two missable achievements in Avowed.
3. Fior Extinguisher (Steel Resolve Quest)
“Save Fior mes Ivèrno from being razed by the Steel Garrote.”
Ranger Acierno suspects a traitor among their ranks, who turns out to be Ranger Dorso. When you finally confront her, she reveals that the Steel Garrote are hiding inside a nearby waterfall cave. This unlocks an optional objective to eliminate all Steel Garrote members from the waterfall hideout. If you do so, Fior mes Ivèrno will remain intact during the Ancient Soil quest, popping the achievement. Just make sure to clear the Steel Garrote hideout before completing the Animancy Method quest.

Shatterscarp Missable Achievements
1. Reverse Card (One Last Drink Quest)
“Kill Captain Ngunu with his own poison.”
Captain Ngunu wants your help in finding his three former crewmates for a reunion. When you track them down, Ruanga is the only one who refuses to return because she thinks he wants to poison her.
Now, instead of following the mission marker back to Ngunu, make your way to his personal quarters above the docks in Thirdborn. You will find a lockbox (requires three lockpicks) containing the poison he intends to use.
Return to Ruanga with the proof and choose only the dialogue options related to poisoning the captain. Then, head back to the captain and hit the option to switch cups.
This achievement can fail to trigger if you come across the poison before starting the quest. Your best bet is to stick to the mission markers.
2. Dream Fungi Rotation (The Wasteland Courier Quest)
“Try Aiko’s drugs with your companions.”
This is an easy one. Just make sure to accept your companions’ suggestion to try some of the drugs on your way back from the camp.
The Garden Missable Achievements
1. We’re All In This Together (Pulling Back the Veil Quest)
“Complete all the companion moments in the Garden.”
You can only visit the Garden one time, so make sure to complete all available optional objectives. This includes witnessing memories for your four companions. Start with Kai and Marius before switching to Giatta and Yatzli to experience all four moments.
2. Allochory and Parasitoid (The Heart of the Living Lands Quest)
“Release Sapadal from their prison, or Destroy Sapadal and absorb their power.”
These are two separate achievements that hinge on what you decide to do with Sapadal. Make sure to save your progress beforehand so you can reload and unlock both achievements.
Other Missable Achievements in Avowed
1. A Test of Your Reflexes
“Complete Avowed on the difficulty Path of the Damned.”
Yes, Avowed has a difficulty-related achievement. You have to beat the game on Path of the Damned, without changing difficulty levels in between.
You can easily beat Avowed on Path of the Damned during your first run, making your second playthrough a breeze for unlocking any remaining achievements.
2. Tyranny
“Be knighted as a member of the Steel Garrote.”
This is one missable achievement that requires a new playthrough. You have to side with the Steel Garrote at several critical points in the storyline. This includes:
- Respecting Inquisitor Lodwyn throughout the game.
- Killing Ygwulf in the “An Untimely End” quest.
- Not clearing the waterfall cave in the “Steel Resolve” quest.
- Letting Fior mes Ivèrno burn in the “Ancient Soil” quest.
- Not killing the Steel Garrote captain in the “Debt of Blood” quest.
- Blowing up the mine in “Fire in the Mine” quest.
- Destroying the ruins of Naku Kubel in the “Shadows of the Past” quest.
- Destroying Solace Keep in the “Our Dreams Divide Us Still” quest.
- Killing Sapadal in the end.
- Renouncing Sapadal in front of Inquisitor Lodwyn.
Be pro Steel Garrote in every conversation and action, and you will get an option to kneel in the end, becoming an official member of the Steel Garrote. This achievement is also one of the rare endings you unlock in Avowed.
3. Dungeon Siege
“Enter every dungeon across all regions.”
There are 13 dungeons (caves, ruins, and special locations) that you must explore in the Living Lands. These will always be marked on the map with a doorway icon. For the sake of unlocking the achievement, do not choose any dialogue that relates to destroying a dungeon.
4. Pentiment
“Complete every side quest.”
Sounds easy, right? Not quite. In Avowed, many side quests can fail if you progress too far into the main quest. Some side quests might not even appear if you advance the main story too much. The best approach is to complete all side quests in each region before diving into the main quest.
