Where to Find Chaliceweed in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is filled with rare and special items that aren’t visible on the map as collection points, or in a monster’s loot drop table, or anywhere else. The game offers no help finding them, and players looking to obtain them are left wondering where to look.

One of these items is Chaliceweed, an extremely rare spawn that can only be stumbled upon by chance. It’s a required item to Item Trade with Rove, the verbose Wudwud in the Iceshard Cliffs. Here is where to find it.

Chaliceweed Farming Method in MH Wilds

The easiest way to farm for Chaliceweed is by collecting Glass Algae found in the Scarlet Forest Area 12. Here’s a step-by-step process on what you need to do.

  1. Equip an armor/talisman/decoration to obtain level 2 Geologist skill and, optionally, the Forest Forager skill.

  5. Walk to the edge, and you’ll see the prompt to ‘Dive in.’ Do so.
  6. Your character will dive underwater, following a preset path, but you will be able to move the camera and gather materials using the Hook Slinger.
  7. Gather all Glass Algae in this area. They will be converted to either Gobletweed or Chaliceweed in your inventory. Look to the messages on the right of the screen to keep track.
  8. After you exit, open the World Map and fast travel to any location outside of the Scarlet Forest.
  9. Then, fast-travel back to the Area 12: Northeast camp.
  10. All Glass Algae will have respawned, and you can repeat the process.

To summarize, go to Scarlet Forest Area 12 underwater area, collect all Glass Algae, fast travel to a different area, then fast travel back. And repeat.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How Does Elemental Damage Work

The Element stat of weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds is never properly explained in-game. Here is what it does.

Where to Use Chaliceweed

Chaliceweed can be traded with Rove, who is camped out in the Iceshard Cliff Area 20, right next to the Area 20: Ancient Room Pop-up Camp. Like all Item Traders, Rove’s stock is limited and is only refreshed after a single day of in-game time has passed.

Typically, Rove wants to trade for Chaliceweed and Gobletweed, the two items obtained by collecting Glass Algae in the Scarlet Forest. Rove will only have three items up for sale at any one time, but there are seven possible items he can stock in his Item Trade shop; four of them require 1x Chaliceweed to be purchased. They are:

  • Monster Broth (2)
  • Whitefish Fin (1)
  • Truffle du Conga (3)
  • Blango Pelt+ (2)

Ancient Wyvern Coins, Comaqchi Shells, and Spider Webs are sold in exchange for Gobletweed.

After Rove’s Item Trade has been unlocked, players can access his shop from base camp by talking to Nata.
