Age Of Mythology: Retold – Arena Of Gods, Explained
The Arena of Gods game mode in Age of Mythology brings a fresh perspective to this timeless classic.
Skirmish remains one of the most timeless and essential modes, allowing players to choose their gods, customize opponents, and tailor the match to their preferences. In Multiplayer, you can test your skills against other players and continuously improve your gameplay. But what exactly is the Daily Celestial Challenge? In this guide, we’ll dive into all the details!
Daily Celestial Challenge, Explained
The Daily Celestial Challenge is a game mode that resets every 24 hours. This countdown is the same for all players and is not individual. You can access the Daily Celestial Challenge from the top right corner of the main menu. This mode can only be played solo—you cannot team up with friends.
The core idea of this mode revolves around daily challenges that refresh every 24 hours. In these challenges, you can choose any major god. To change your god, simply click on the circular god icon under the Pantheon column, located to the right of your username.
AI Opponents And Team Composition
In the Daily Celestial Challenge, the game assigns AI-controlled opponents from the enemy team(s). Sometimes, AI allies may also be on your side, and there can be multiple AIs on teams. You can see your team composition on the left side of the screen, beneath your username. This mode never pits you against real players—only AI opponents.
On the right side of the interface, you can see the map selected for the challenge. This cannot be changed. Below the map, you will find the Game Type and Victory Condition, which are randomly selected for each Daily Challenge and also cannot be altered.
These settings function the same way as in Skirmish Mode. The table below lists the possible Game Types and Victory Conditions you may encounter:

World Twists And Blessings
The Daily Celestial Challenge shares some mechanics with Arena of Gods, particularly in terms of World Twists and Blessings. In the center panel, if applicable, World Twists will be displayed. However, not every Daily Challenge will have a World Twist.
These twists modify the game mechanics for all teams and do not favor any single player. Instead, they introduce new rules that you must adapt to.
For example, a World Twist might double the effects of god technologies or remove the favor cost of myth units while doubling their hitpoints—but in return, their training time increases. Understanding World Twists and selecting your major god and Blessings accordingly is crucial to success.
Blessings are passive bonuses that only benefit you, and you can choose three of them. Some Blessings require manual activation, but most are passive. They are categorized into Simple, Fine, Heroic, and Eternal tiers. Higher-tier Blessings grant greater advantages.
To obtain new Blessings or upgrade your existing Blessings to higher tiers, you need to play the Arena of Gods game mode. Additionally, you can earn Blessings by playing the Daily Celestial Challenge, as winning your first challenge of the day grants you a Blessing reward.
Rewards And Leaderboards
At the top center of the screen, you can view the Daily Leaderboard along with your personal score. After completing a Daily Challenge, you will receive a score based on your performance. Additionally, upon winning your first Daily Challenge of the day, you will receive a Blessing as a reward.
By continuing to win subsequent Daily Challenges on the same day, you can earn additional rewards, though this requires playing multiple matches.
