This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Final Saga.
Summary
- Lodestar Island, second to last on the Grand Line, is crucial for navigating to Laugh Tale.
- Lodestar is where all Grand Line routes converge, making it a critical crossing point.
- The island holds hidden One Piece secrets, including knowledge of Poneglyphs and Laugh Tale.
In One Piece, when it comes to the islands of the series, most fans view only a few as being supremely important to the story. Mainly, fans tend to focus on Laugh Tale as the most important island in One Piece, often ignoring most others. Being the final island of the Grand Line and the home of the series’ final treasure, this is most likely a fairly accurate assessment, with Laugh Tale most likely being the final stop for the story of One Piece in general.
However, one island that is nearly as important as Laugh Tale that is often overshadowed by the far more lore-significant island is Lodestar. Being the second to last island on the Grand Line, Lodestar, despite lacking the same importance overall as Laugh Tale, by the end of the story, has the potential to be equally as important. Until then, even without the One Piece or Roger’s legacy, Lodestar is still one of the most important islands in all of One Piece.

What Is Lodestar Island In One Piece?
The Grand Line Is Divided Into paths Based On Magnetic Signatures
To journey on the Grand Line, pirates can’t utilize normal means of navigation and must rely on something called a Log Pose. This Log Pose is able to capture the magnetic signature unique to each island on One Piece’s Grand Line and then point travelers in the right direction toward the next island on their journey. For example, when visiting a Cactus Island, after letting their Log Pose get a significant reading, the device pointed the Straw Hats directly to Little Garden, the next island on their path leading to the Grand Line.
It all started 13 years ago when we landed at the destination of the final Log Pose, where no one had ever reached before… A place called Lodestar Island! – Roger
Due to this, when navigating the Grand Line, there are a finite number of predetermined paths that new travelers can follow, mainly based on the starting point of their journey. While the Straw Hats chose the Cactus Island path leading to One Piece’s Kingdom of Alabasta and beyond, another pirate may have taken an entirely different path, running into completely unique islands. Still, despite having a few unique paths, there are a few places that can’t be directly reached by Log Poses, with the most notable example being Laugh Tale.
Lodestar Is The Second To Last Island Of A Pirate’s Journey To Laugh Tale
The Island Is Where All Grand Line Routes Meet
- Lodestar Is The End Of The Navigable Grand Line
- Every Major Pirate Has To Come Here On Their Journey
However, Lodestar, the second to last island on the Grand Line, is extremely important in this regard since it is the end of the Grand Line that can be navigated with the Log Poses. This means that every route that leads through the Grand Line ultimately ends at Lodestar Island in One Piece. Due to this, at one point or another, any crew looking to reach Laugh Tale and find the One Piece treasure will need to pass through this island at some point in time.

Elbaf has showcased some amazing Devil Fruits. This paramecia one might be one of the most terrifying in One Piece.
Due to this, being a literal crossing point of all the paths on the Grand Line in One Piece, Lodestar may be the island that brings all the characters together, gearing them up for the final arcs of the manga. Since each character needs to pass through this island at some point, no matter which path they originally took, it seems likely that Emperors looking for the One Piece, like Buggy, Blackbeard, and Luffy, may cross paths on this island. Due to this, rather than occurring on Laugh Tale, a large-scale battle may occur on Lodestar.
Many One Piece Secrets Are Hidden On Lodestar
The History Of The World May Be Revealed Here
At the same time, Inuarashi, the former leader of the Mink Tribe and Roger Pirate, claims that those who visit the island become aware of some of One Piece’s most mysterious secrets. This includes knowledge of the Poneglyphs and their creators, something that would likely contribute greatly to Robin’s goals in One Piece. However, at the same time, it also, in some mysterious way, makes those who set foot on the island aware of Laugh Tale’s existence.

Although it may seem like an island simply there to set up One Piece’s Laugh Tale, Lodestar Island is important in its own right. Acting as the initial end of the Grand Line, where all the unique paths come together, it is already enough to make it a significant island in the One Piece world. Plus, with so many secrets supposedly hidden there, fans are in for a treat when the Straw Hats finally reach Lodestar.
