Dragon Ball Daima was a beloved series that fans of the franchise greatly grew to appreciate, especially considering that it was the last work of the legendary Akira Toriyama. Although some complained about its slow and rocky start, the latter half of the series really picked up the pace with exciting moments, incredible reveals, and awesome new transformations.
However, some felt that the series’ finale was a little disappointing. There were, surprisingly, quite a few reasons to think so, from wasted moments to entire aspects of the story that felt completely brushed to the wayside, leading many fans to believe that the last episode could have been way better. In this article, let’s go over the parts of Dragon Ball Daima’s finale that fans believe to be the biggest letdowns in the show.

As it has always been, fusion remains one of the greatest and most beloved aspects of the entire franchise. Over the years, Goku and Vegeta have performed it in a couple of different ways, namely the Potara Earrings and the Metamoran Fusion Dance, in order to merge into a singularly powerful warrior whose strength trumps both of theirs by a huge degree.
Early on in Daima, brand-new items called Medi Bugs were introduced, which come in a host of abilities. Some can heal and others restore stamina, but the most notable of these were the Join Bugs. These allow two people to fuse into one just like the Potara and the Fusion Dance do, so pretty much every fan was sure that due to their introduction in the series, a new fusion was definitely going to come to Daima. As for what form it would take, the most common belief was that there would be a new fusion, although the prospect of Vegito and Gogeta was still on the cards.
Because of this, fans became incredibly excited about seeing fusion again in the context of Daima, especially after Goku unlocked his brand-new Super Saiyan 4 state, driving fans into a frenzy since they got excited at the prospect of seeing Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta again. However, all of this excitement was curbed in the last 2 episodes of the season, where the pouch containing all the Medi Bugs was lost.
This was something that just left a bitter taste in everyone’s mouths since they just felt that there was no need to introduce and tease this aspect throughout the series if nothing was going to come of it. Not only was the fusion aspect completely wasted, but it felt far worse considering the set-up for it to take place was perfect, since Gomah proved to be an incredibly powerful opponent that was very difficult to put down for good, even for Super Saiyan 4 Goku.

Even Super Saiyan 3 Wasn’t Enough
Vegeta finally unlocking his Super Saiyan 3 form remains one of the highlights of Dragon Ball Daima and one of the best moments in his entire character arc in recent memory. Super Saiyan 3 was a state that the Saiyan Prince always sought but never unlocked. In its first appearance ever, it represented a level of power that Vegeta could never reach, forever putting him behind Goku.
However, Episode 12 of Daima finally made this form canon for him, and this was something that every fan absolutely loved. Not only that, but his strength with this new form was incredible since he made short work of Tamagami 2 and even did very well against Gomah early on in their fight. For once, fans were anticipating that this character would finally get the justice he deserves and would play a much more central role in the overall story by being Goku’s equal.
Shut up! That transformation was, uh… It’s Ultra Vegeta 1!
However, this importance wasn’t to last, since Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta didn’t have much to do in his fight against Gomah. While the damage he did to the Demon King was substantial, the use of the Tertian Oculus gave the villain unmatched healing that negated all of it. In the end, Vegeta was forced out of the fight because of a gag, seemingly just so Goku could come in and defeat the final villain, yet again.
This was compounded by the reveal of Super Saiyan 4 Goku, which just threw the entire prospect of the 2 Saiyans finally being equals out the window. Vegeta’s landmark Super Saiyan 3 was almost immediately forgotten about due to this transformation, which most fans hated since it just diminished its importance just as quickly. Vegeta has long been arguably the most beloved character in the series but fans have felt that the writers have always had something against him, so to see it happening again and again has gotten tiring at this point.
