Sam And Fragile Shippers Have Finally Been Proven Right Thanks To A New Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Trailer

Summary

  • Death Stranding 2: On the Beach just had its longest trailer yet during a panel at SXSW.
  • The trailer revealed plenty about the game for the first time, including that Sam and Fragile are a thing.
  • It’s not clear if they’re still together, but a kiss has clearly been shared at some point.

Today’s dedicated panel for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach confirmed for good that Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile are romantically involved, as a scene shows them kissing for an uncomfortably long time.

Thanks to Norman Reedus’ loose lips and a proper confirmation at The Game Awards in 2022, we’ve known about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for quite some time now. That being said, it’s been a quiet year-and-a-bit when it comes to news on the game, something that’s just changed thanks to a panel at SXSW.

Sony’s two big games this year were absent, but that may be more tactical than it appears.

As promised, the panel revealed a bunch of details about Death Stranding 2 and gave us our best look at the game so far. Perhaps the biggest reveal of the night for long-term Death Stranding fans was that Sam and Fragile are indeed a thing, something that was hinted at in the first game.

Death Stranding 2 Will Finally Let Sam And Fragile Kiss

In the first Death Stranding, Fragile is one of the first characters that Sam meets and one that has quite a tortured past. The pair quickly become close and Fragile ends up being one of Sam’s main allies throughout the game, and it’s implied there’s a spark between them.

That spark has just turned into a full-on flame thanks to the latest trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Towards the end of the trailer, Sam and Fragile are shown playing tongue tennis for a long time, confirming that they’re more than just good delivering buddies.

I guess that means that Sam is over his plot-important fear of touching people that he had for most of the first game. Sam and Fragile did share a head bump, but this is next-level.

Previous trailers for On the Beach have suggested that Sam is going through some tough times and has been on his own for a while, so it’s not clear if the two are still involved during the sequel’s plot or if something has happened along the way. My guess is that they’re on the rocks, but will inevitably get back together.

We’ll know for sure what’s going on (well, we likely won’t since it’s Death Stranding) for sure when On the Beach launches in just a few months on June 26. Pre-orders for the game are going live very soon, including for its collectors edition.
