Learn how romance works in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and which characters are romanceable.

You might have been wondering what it takes to romance her. She can be romanced during the Hunger and Despair quest, but it isn’t that simple. You need to complete some side missions and activities before getting to romance her. Here, we will provide you with a thorough guide on how to romance Katherine. Ready? Let’s dive in.

How To Romance Katherine

Romancing a character in this game isn’t simple, as you can’t do that in just a single step. You may need to complete several quests before getting a chance to romance a certain character. However, even after completing all those main missions, romancing that particular character won’t be a guarantee. Similar is the case with Katherine.

You first see her during the epilogue. However, you talk to her during the Laboratoes quest. It won’t matter much if you lose some reputation with her during this quest, so there is no need to worry about that.

However, if you want to gain reputation with Katherine at the start, passing skill checks can help, so boost persuasion, charisma, and other skills before speaking to her. While this may not be feasible in Laboratores, it becomes possible in For Whom the Bell Tolls once you can freely explore Trosky.

After that, Katherine can be found during the For Whom the Bell Tolls. Again, losing reputation here won’t affect your chance of romancing her.

Flirting With Katherine

Sir Hans Capon and the Chamberlain are looking at Katherine.

Katherine is one of the main characters in the game, so she will stick with you during most of the quests, especially in the Kuttenberg region, giving you a chance to flirt with her. The first time your flirt can be effective is during The Sword and the Quill main mission.

Flirting with Katherine isn’t absolutely necessary; if you think you don’t have enough points in the skill, then don’t select the flirting option. This will lead you to lose reputation with her, which is the last thing you want. That said, losing a bit of reputation won’t matter, even after a failed flirting attempt. That is because, during The Fifth Commandment and The Stalker, you gain a lot of reputation.

After the conversation with Christian of Pisek, ask Katherine what she will do. She plans on going to bed, and you can choose the option “May I join you?” to flirt with her. However, for this to work, your impression skill needs to have at least 20 points.

You can gain reputation with Katherine and even get a reward during The Sword and Quill, but you will have to defeat Captain Frenzl’s hand-picked soldier.

The Fifth Commandment

This mission can be triggered right after you complete Into The Underworld. Talk to Katherine, and she will tell you about something that has been bothering her. Check our complete walkthrough of this quest to complete it perfectly.

Some users have reported that they couldn’t romance Katherine just by skipping The Fifth Commandment. Given how much reputation you can gain during this quest, it is necessary to complete it. Also, if you fail to do it before Katherine moves to Sigismund’s Camp, the quest will no longer be available. So, make sure to complete it before starting The Lion’s Den.

This is a pretty long quest, meaning you will spend a lot of time with Katherine. Try to take her side each time, and you will gain a lot of reputation with her. In the end, if you want even more reputation, let her kill Mandelina.

The Lion’s Den

Now, after The Fifth Commandment mission, you can meet Katherine in The Lion’s Den. It is a pretty long quest where you will infiltrate Sigismund’s camp. Katherine will be there working as a bathsmaid and will provide you with a complete plan of what to do.

Upon talking to her, she will accompany you in the bath, pretending to provide you with the services so no one interrupts you both. That is where you can flirt with her even more. You will get two skills checks: “It’s different with you.” and “What about a kiss for luck?”. The former has a medium persuasion check, while the latter has a hard one.

The Stalker can be triggered during two phases of The Lion’s Den. First, you can trigger it by selecting this option: “A girl from the baths will help” after discovering Chertan is dead. If you miss this dialogue, you can go to Katherine after Musa’s trial and ask what bothers her. Make sure to do this before completing the main mission, as Katherine will leave the camp after it.

This is the only time you can flirt with her during The Lion’s Den. However, once you are done with Musa’s trial, you can talk to Katherine again to start a side activity, The Stalker. During this activity, you can rely on Mutt to track her stalker. However, if you don’t have Mutt, you can simply wait for him outside Katherine’s tent.

Once you have caught the stalker, talk to him and ask him to stay away from Katherine. Upon failing the skill check, he will attack you, leading to a pretty long fistfight. However, if you are not confident in succeeding with the skill checks, it is better to pay him 200 Groschen. After dealing with him, talk to Katherine and let her know about the situation.

If you can’t find Katherine after completing the side activity, she will likely sleep at the Devil’s Den in Zizka’s room. If she is not there, reload the save and try again. If you are doing the side activity after finding out Chertan is dead, then she will be inside her tent sleeping.

The Italian Job

The Italian Job is a pretty intense mission, and you may miss flirting with Katherine. After freeing the lords and before talking to Zizka, you can actually speak to her. You will notice a spiral staircase on the right side of the minting room.

On the second floor, Katherine is sitting and guarding a door. You can talk to her and choose the “You look pretty” option to flirt. You can also compliment her once more, and it will give you an even more reputation boost.

Finally Romancing Katherine

Katherine romance option in-game.

During Hunger and Despair, you can ask Zizka about Katherine’s past. He will tell you everything and ask you to talk to her. You can find her crying at the infirmary, so talk to her and choose this option: “I’ll bring help, and everything will be alright again.” If you don’t get the heart icon dialogue with her, then you won’t be able to romance her.

If you romance Hans, you will skip the option to do so with Katherine. So, make sure to talk to her first and choose the heart icon option. You can only romance one of the two characters during one playthrough.

Talking to Zizka about Katherine’s past will give you an additional dialogue option with her. This won’t automatically lead you to romance her; as for that, you would need to go to the ramparts. Interact with the bleeding and wait. In a while, Katherine will come, and a cutscene will commence.

If you didn’t get the heart icon dialogue option, you may not have completed the side quests necessary to romance, or you may not have enough reputation with her.
