Monster Hunter Wilds: Where to Find Fossilized Fire Opal
Fossiled Fire Opals can be traded for many exciting goodies in Monster Hunter WIlds.
Some of these items can take on many forms, ranging from certain pieces of a monster to ores that can be mined in the wild. Many of them can also range from being quite common to slightly difficult to trace. One of these items that can be more of a rare sight goes by the name of a Firecell Stone.
How To Get Firecell Stones In Monster Hunter Wilds
The Firecell Stone item is a rare mining item in Monster Hunter Wilds that can also be dropped from a specific monster’s loot pool. That specific monster is Gravios, a returning brute wyvern found in the Oilwell Basin and the Ruins of Wyveria. Once reaching HR 8 and beginning the journey through the high-ranks, players can find this monster in the wild or through multiple different types of quests like investigations and optional quests. When hunting Gravios, breaking wounds and specific body parts can increase your chances of obtaining a Firecell Stone. The body parts you want to break are:
- Back: 40% drop rate
- Left Leg: 40% drop rate
- Right Leg: 40% drop rate
Breaking wounds does only have a 20 percent drop rate. However, this can be done multiple times throughout the hunt when breaking a body part can only happen once.
Mining for a Firecell Stone is also possible, much like mining for other ores throughout the game. It can only be found in mining outcrops in the high-rank version of the Oilwell Basin and cannot be found in any other outcrops in the entire game. When mining for this item, players will have to interact with these mining outcrops, of which they will then be given three random items that are pulled from the loot pool tied to that location’s obtainable ores.
Once the items are claimed, the outcrop will go on a 15-minute timer before it can be mined from again. These outcrops tend to be grouped up together along the edges of certain zones, making them easy to farm. A particularly great spot to find multiple mining outcrops in the Oilwell Basin is in Zone 13, where four of them can be seen together almost in a straight line. They are also conveniently placed near a possible pop-up camp location, making it even better to farm so you can fast travel immediately to that zone.
One specific side quest can also reward players with a Firecell Stone. After claiming the side quest titled Succulent Scraps from Dogard, one of the many NPCs that can be found in the base camp of the Oilwell Basin, you will be tasked with successfully hunting a Gravios in a newly unlocked optional quest. Upon doing so and returning to Dogard, he will thank you for your work and reward you with one Firecell Stone. While the side quest rewards can only be claimed once, the optional quest for Gravios can be replayed, making it convenient for more chances at getting another stone.
