Every Unite Attack In Suikoden 1 HD Remaster

One of the novel aspects present in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster, and the series as a whole, is that there are combination attacks known as ‘Unite’ attacks. Like Chrono Trigger before it, certain team members will be able to work in tandem to perform unique attacks that are capable of dealing a considerable amount of damage.

There is a lot to learn when it comes to the two titular games in the Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster. We’ll show you the ropes!

The majority of Unite attacks are performed by two characters, but there are also a number of three-character Unite attacks as well. There is only one four-character unite attack in the game. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about each of these attacks, and put it all in one convenient place. Enjoy!

Unite Attack Damage Multiplier Calculation

Beat 'em up Unite attack in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster.

To understand how much damage a Unite attack will do, you add the attack power of the members and multiply it by the damage multiplier. Keep in mind that a critical attack multiplies a character’s damage by 3. So, two characters, who score regular criticals, may be better off attacking than performing a unite attack together.

Additionally, it is worth noting that Rune Pieces do not have any impact on Unite attacks. So, take that into consideration, as well.

Two-Character Unite Attacks

You’ll find that the majority of these attacks are pretty similar. They perform 2x damage and strike one opponent. However, there are a few that will trade increased damage for unbalancing a character. The standout unite attacks are the Bandit Attack, which does more damage than most Unite attacks without any downside, and the Master Pupil Attack, which involves McDohl who will always be in your party (naturally).

Surprisingly, the Master Pupil Attack is the only Unite attack in the game that utilizes McDohl.

Three-Character Unite Attacks

As you can see, there is a little more variety in the three-person unite attacks, with the majority of them dealing double damage to one unit. The best of the bunch is very obviously the Martial Arts Attack, which does massive damage to every enemy.

The Martial Arts attack also utilizes three S-range fighters, but those characters can use ability runes (such as the Boar Rune) that allow them to fight from the back row, so it makes sense why their damage may be nerfed a little.

Four-Character Unite Attack: The Blacksmith Attack

Blacksmith Unite attack in Suikoden 1 HD Remaster.

The Black Smith Attack is the only four-person Unite attack in the game. It can be performed with any combination of blacksmiths: Maas, Meese, Moose, Mose, or Mace.

Frustratingly, you won’t be able to access this attack the moment you have access to the Warriors’ Village (where you can recruit Moose), even though you’ll have all the conditions necessary to recruit Moose, as that section of the game will not leave you with enough room to add three blacksmiths to your party. So, your first opportunity to have access to this Unite attack will come after defeating Neclord.
