Despite Enter The Gungeon releasing in 2016, the near-infinite replayability of the roguelite shooter means that many fans still revisit the game today. Even for new players, there are plenty of reasons to go back and enjoy Enter The Gungeon for the first time, as it certainly has a unique identity even with the large number of indie roguelikes in the current gaming scene.
There are a huge number of guns to play with in Enter The Gungeon. The original release had hundreds of unlockable weapons, and subsequent updates have added even more variety. It’s not straightforward to define the best guns, either, as many guns have utilities beyond damage. There’s also quality to take into account, as this can affect what other guns are likely to drop in a run. So, for utility or for pure power, these are some of the best guns in Enter The Gungeon.

Old Goldie
Super Shotgun
- Type: Semi-automatic
- Quality: A
- Damage: 3.5 x 10
- Ammo: 150
- Clip Size: 4
- Unlock Requirement: N/A
Old Goldie is an A-quality shotgun with more power than a regular boom stick, but with a slightly irregular spread pattern. It’s a good weapon for room clearing and the added “+1 coolness” gives players faster active item cooldowns and increased luck.

Gungine
Faster Move Speed
- Type: Automatic
- Quality: S
- Damage: 5
- Ammo: 800
- Clip Size: 100
- Unlock Requirement: Fix the shortcut to the Hollow
The Gungine doesn’t do a lot of damage per shot, but makes up for it with a huge clip and a fast automatic rate of fire. The main advantage of this weapon is the increased movement speed that players get while holding it, which increases both the speed at which players can get through a run and the ease of dodging bullets while they do it.

Balloon Gun
Not A Toy
- Type: Semi-automatic
- Quality: C
- Damage: 12
- Ammo: 250
- Clip Size: 10
- Unlock Requirement: N/A
The Balloon Gun is a very solid weapon with decent damage for a semi-automatic rifle. Its C-quality means it won’t hurt the player’s chances of finding better weapons later in the run, too. The weapon fires homing mini-tornados, so it’s easy to use for room clearing, and grants the player flight while held. It’s one that players will need to get used to though, as the Balloon Gun loses all the ammo in its clip if the player is hit while using it.

AKEY-47
Unlimited Keys
- Type: Automatic
- Quality: S
- Damage: 5.5
- Ammo: 500
- Clip Size: 30
- Unlock Requirement: Fix the shortcut to the Forge
The AK-47 is already a solid automatic weapon in Enter The Gungeon, and the AKEY-47 is even better. It has all the same stats as the AK, but also acts as an infinite use key. Shoot a locked door or chest with this gun, and it will open. Players need to unlock the shortcut to the Forge before they can access this weapon in a run.

WindGunner
Infinite Ammo
- Type: Automatic
- Quality: N/A (Cannot drop on its own)
- Damage: 45
- Ammo: Infinite
- Clip Size: 300
- Unlock Requirement: Granted by Sprun when its trigger is satisfied
The Windgunner is an obscenely powerful weapon, but accessing it can be a little tricky. Players first need to find the “Sprun” item, a floating orb that follows them around. When this item is picked up, it picks a random trigger condition. When the trigger is satisfied, the player is granted the Windgunner. The trigger can be a number of different things: taking enough heart damage, getting poisoned, etc., but the player doesn’t know the condition until it happens. Mechanically, it’s a clever reference to the fantasy franchise it’s paying homage to, but players can discover that themselves when they find a friendly Sprun.
7
Winchester Rifle
Old Reliable
- Type: Semi-automatic
- Quality: D
- Damage: 15
- Ammo: 130
- Clip Size: 12
- Unlock Requirement: N/A
The Winchester Rifle is a reliable, if unspectacular, weapon. The default D-quality means that this is a weapon players might hope to find on the first floor, to carry them through until something better comes along — but it’s the best weapon players could hope for, for that purpose. It works well for players who prefer solid damage from a single shot over automatic or spread fire.
6
Gunther
Evolving Power
- Type: Semi-automatic
- Quality: S
- Damage: 6 / 9 / 12
- Ammo: Infinite
- Clip Size: Infinite
- Unlock Requirement: Defeat the High Dragun boss with the Sorceress’ Blessing
It has a pretty hefty unlock requirement, but Gunther is one of the best weapons in the game once players have access to it. This weapon evolves as players clear enough rooms with it, getting progressively stronger and gaining bullet properties. Projectiles first pierce, then bounce, then seek out enemies, also getting more damage with each stage. To unlock it, players need to beat High Dragun, the final boss, with the Sorceress’s Blessing active. (This means that players have to have already beaten Dragun at least once to unlock the NPC.)
5
Particulator
Homing Bullets
- Type: Semi-automatic
- Quality: S
- Damage: 30 (plus 7 from the smaller projectiles)
- Ammo: 60
- Clip Size: 1
- Unlock Requirement: N/A
The Particulator is an excellent room-clearing weapon. Its homing bullets seek out enemies and do a lot of damage. The larger projectile does most of the damage (30), with the smaller projectiles adding 7 additional damage per hit. Players can clear a room with a couple of shots, and the long reload time can be skipped with the drop-reload (drop a weapon and pick it up to reload automatically) method if players really want to maximize damage.

4
BSG
Legally Distinct BFG
- Type: Charged
- Quality: S
- Damage: 50
- Ammo: 25
- Clip Size: 1
- Unlock Requirement: N/A
Doom players will immediately recognize this weapon and will already have a good idea of how it functions. The BSG charges up to fire a powerful, screen-clearing projectile that deals heavy damage to all nearby enemies. It’s a rare weapon, but the power of its single shot is hard to beat.
3
Black Hole Gun
Strong Attraction
- Type: Charged
- Quality: A
- Damage: 10
- Ammo: 30
- Clip Size: 1
- Unlock Requirement: Purchase from Ox & Cadence in the Breach
The Black Hole Gun doesn’t do a lot of damage quickly, but its shots pull enemies and their bullets into the singularity, making finishing them while they can’t fight back incredibly easy. To access this weapon, players first have to purchase it from Ox & Cadence’s store in the Breach for 20 Hegemony credits.
2
Yari Launcher
Homing Rockets
- Type: Automatic
- Quality: S
- Damage: 10 (plus 15 AoE from explosion)
- Ammo: 140
- Clip Size: 20
- Unlock Requirement: Purchase from Ox & Cadence in the Breach
The Yari Launcher has some of the best clearing potential in the game. The launcher fires homing rockets at a rapid rate of fire, which explode for AoE damage as well dealing damage on hit. Like the Black Hole Gun, the Yari Launcher has to be purchased from Ox & Cadence for 25 Hegemony credits. The Yari Launcher is a rocket launcher with an automatic rate of fire, so while it’s rare even once purchased, it’s well worth it.
1
Finished Gun
Finally
- Type: Semi-automatic
- Quality: S
- Damage: 14 (25 on final shot)
- Ammo: 500
- Clip Size: 6
- Unlock Requirement: Complete the Ammonomicon (replaces Unfinished Gun)
Completing the Ammonomicon is no easy task, as players need to find almost every gun in the game to fill out the entries. The reward is the Finished Gun, a heavy revolver with ricochet bullets and a powerful final shot from the magazine which can deflect enemy shots. This replaces the Unfinished Gun in the players’ weapon drop table for subsequent runs. It’s a weapon with great base stats, and the final shot can be used well with synergy items like Orbital Bullets.
