If you’re always on the lookout for a new Vampire Survivors style roguelike, Rogue: Genesia is worth your time. It’s one of the most beloved takes on the genre available on Steam, with a 92% positive rating from over 5,500 user reviews, and it just got even better. The 1.0 update is finally here, with plenty of new mechanics, quality-of-life-changes, and even more to get stuck into. Best of all, you can grab the game at a third off right now too.
At its core, Rogue: Genesia will feel very familiar if you’ve played Vampire Survivors. You zoom around giant open fields, slaying nigh-countless varieties of monster while upgrading your build and picking out the perfect items. You’ve got more than 200 hundred passive upgrades, over 60 weapons, and a similar number of artifacts to choose from, all of which will help you on your run.
The roguelike game’s progression system isn’t just about endless upgrades, however, as it has another mechanic at play. You can decide which route to take in a similar manner to Inscryption, with branching paths offering tough enemies, shops, or potentially something you haven’t even seen yet.
Rogue: Genesia is an incredibly solid take on the genre, and the overwhelming among of positive user reviews prove it. “Easily one of the best bullet heavens I’ve played so far, with solid infinite scaling stats, tons of weapons, and an almost obscene level of meta progression,” ‘Wanderbot’ writes on Steam. “You are really rewarded by what you do, and when you understand what the stats mean, it’s straight-up an incredible experience,” ‘Atuzi’ adds.

Rogue: Genesia 1.0 is filled with fresh content, but by far the biggest addition is the new A-rank world. This is significantly harder than B-rank, and requires you complete 20 challenges to access it, but is the perfect way to test yourself. There’s the Void Dimension zone, and Corrupted enemies that act as rare and powerful variants of the normal non-elite monsters you come across.
The game has also introduced a loop feature, where you can start right from the beginning after completing a run and face stronger enemies with higher XP rewards. There are new items for your builds, alongside a handful of challenges if you really want to push your knowledge of the game as far as it’ll go.
Rogue: Genesia 1.0 is out now on Steam, and you can buy the game at 34% off until Friday March 21, so expect to pay $9.89 / £8.44 until then. Just head here.
