World of Warcraft is introducing a new buff in Patch 11.1.5 called the Winds of Mysterious Fortune that boosts experience and reputation gains, special cosmetic and equipment rewards, and daily bonuses. Though some of the exact details of this new leveling feature are still shrouded in mystery, World of Warcraft fans can expect it to arrive sometime in Patch 11.1.5.
Recently, World of Warcraft pulled back the curtain on Patch 11.1.5, the next update for The War Within. Some exciting content awaits players in the new patch, including the Nightfall public scenario, the Dastardly Duos event, and a redux of Horrific Visions from Battle for Azeroth.

However, at least one other new Patch 11.1.5 feature was not mentioned in the reveal. On a splash screen found in the World of Warcraft Public Test Realm for Patch 11.1.5, Winds of Fortune is presented as one of the major highlights of the update. Characters on the PTR have a buff called Winds of Mysterious Fortune, which provides a 20% experience boost from levels 10 through 80, a 200% reputation buff for Dragonflight factions, and a 100% boost for The War Within factions. What’s more, quests and kills in these expansions’ zones can also award Mysterious Satchels containing equipment, cosmetics, or combat and experience consumables. Lastly, there appears to be a daily bonus players can claim through some means.

It remains to be seen exactly how this Winds of Mysterious Fortune buff works. It is unclear if it is a limited-time event or if it will become a permanent fixture, though the former seems much more likely. It could also become a recurring event like World of Warcraft Classic’s Joyous Journeys buff, wherein Blizzard could bring it back in the future – possibly even focusing on other past expansions or future releases. Fans will have to wait until an official announcement to find out for sure.
When combined with other XP boosts, such as the World of Warcraft Warband bonus for having max-level characters, the Draught of Ten Lands potion, and the buff from the Darkmoon Faire, the Winds of Mysterious Fortune will allow players to gain 65% more experience than normal. Needless to say, Patch 11.1.5 is going to be a great time for fans to level new characters.
Blizzard has not yet revealed a release date for Patch 11.1.5, but April 22 would be eight weeks after the launch of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1. Considering this would be in line with its release cadence, and the splash screen indicates Children’s Week – which starts on April 28 – happens after its launch, players shouldn’t be surprised if the patch arrives well before the start of May.
