We’ll show you how to find and complete a limited-time quest with Strange and his beloved cat companion so you can unlock new rewards and find the secrets of the ancient queen that have been long buried within the palace ruins.
How To Start The Midnight Whispers, Restless Shadows Quest
To start this quest, you’ll need to complete the In The Lonely Song quest, then search the courtyard of the queen’s castle ruins at night. You’ll find Strange and his feline companion waiting for you with a quest.
If you’re having trouble finding him, use your map and keep an eye out for a golden sparkle you can use the wait interaction at!
Talk to Strange to begin the quest, where he tasks you with finding the real him among the shadows. In exchange, he’ll share the queen’s secrets with you.
Where To Find The Real Strange
When you accept, Strange gives you a riddle about how to distinguish the real version of him from the shadowy replicas. He hints that animals are not deceived by the trick, so the key is to look for Strange’s cat, not Strange himself.
With several replicas of Strange around the courtyard and castle ruins, it can be hard to find him. Head towards the warp spire near the minigame and cliffside, then head through the gap in the castle wall where you found the ancient sword strung up.
Use the debris to reach the roof, then climb the stairs and hop onto the leaf to reach the next level. Carefully make your way around to the wooden doors on the balcony next to Strange. You’ll know it’s him because his beloved cat is standing right beside him.
If you’re having trouble location him, look for the Peculiar Cat name label next to Strange.
Talk to Strange to complete his request and unlock the cavern beside him. While the quest concludes, you’re not done yet.
How To Explore The Palace Ruins Dungeon
The reward for completing this quest is access to the Palace Ruins Cavern, where you’ll find a Whimstar and 13 Dews of Inspiration inside. The Whimstar can be collected by chasing after the duplicate Whimstars before the timer runs out, and the Dews of Inspiration are located all throughout the cavern.
Keep an eye out around corners and crevices to find them all. Despite the castle being long abandoned, there are still Esselings littering the premises. You’ll need to defeat them to safely navigate the cavern and claim your rewards.
Additionally, there are lore notes inside about the two queens and their history. These will be added to your compendium when you find them!
