Trouble Unleashed, the second scenario in the Sins of New Wells DLC for The Rise of the Golden Idol, begins with the subtitle “a tragic day at the races” and it’s clear from the very first glimpse at the scene that this is a very fitting description of what happened.

All Role Solutions
There are eight roles to figure out in this panel:
- The kennelmaster is someone who has responsibilities dealing with the welfare and care of the dogs at the dog track. Is there someone who has dialogue or possessions that give you a clue to this end?
- The track owner is one of the more obvious ones here. Of the buildings and other locations in this scenario, which is most likely to belong to the most important person?
- The northsider’s identity and the place you learned the word ‘northsider’ are related.
- Favorite girl is not very likely to denote a human, especially when there are so many dogs around. A certain person has jewellery that will give you a clue to the favorite girl’s actual name. Put two and two together…
- A bodyguard and a door guard will have very specific locations.
- Is Benny a human or a dog? Dialogue will point you in the right direction.
- The note that taught you about the ‘Czar’ mentions a blond man who can’t defend himself against a one-handed man. The note seems to imply the one-handed man is the Czar.
All Theft Solutions
The first of two ‘sequence of events’ panels deals with a peculiar case of thievery. Or does it?
- The first word to figure out is the identity of the relevant gang. You have a few proper nouns to work with – which ones are you certain belong to humans and dogs? Which one makes the most sense based on where you found it?
- There are three peculiarities in this scenario: the mess in the office, the fight and death in the kennels, and the random man with three days of recordings on his tape recorder. How might any of these be relevant here?
- The transfer of some goods from the office into an obviously fake dog carrier case in the kennel is an important point here, but how many items are supposed to be in the case? Six or seven? Why might there be a discrepancy here?
- You can find out that the gang works in pairs. One gang member is obviously the guy standing outside the dog track – what happened with him? Where is his buddy?
- Two people were busy at a certain time. You can see when certain races were happening, along with which dogs were racing. Who has a favourite dog? Who would be travelling in a pair?
All Death Solutions
The final panel, naturally, deals with the body you can find in the kennel and the events surrounding his death.
- Zira’s case is important here – the one filled with items, not a dog. The one that the employees are lying to the detectives about. Examine this case closely.
- Again, the discrepancy between the numbers of items referenced and visible is important. Look at the marks on the shelf in the office and examine the items in the case.
- You know what the gang member wanted to do in the previous case. First of all, ‘tried‘ doesn’t mean they were successful. Second of all, where in the office might something be hidden? What happened in the office that could have disrupted plans?
- The kennelmaster always keeps No. 17 with him. Who is No. 17?
- What could bring the relevant people into the kennels? Careful examination of notes might be very useful here.
- The tape recorder is important here.
