The Realms of Dragon Ball
Not to be Confused With Dimensions
- Mortal Universe — Earth, where mortals experience every-day, normal life.
- Angel Realm — A Heavenly Realm where Angels like Whis were born.
- Demon Realm — Ruled by Dabra, the Demon Realm is where demons reside, spread out around three different Demon Worlds.
- Null Realm — A realm where time doesn’t exist, allowing for events like the Tournament of Power to take place with no consequence.
- Other World — The realm when mortals die, and a decision is made whether they are transferred to Heaven or Hell
- Heaven — A realm in Universe 7 where good souls go once they die.
- Hell — In contrast to Heaven, this realm is reserved for the most evil of villains.
In the main Dragon Ball universe, there are several realms inside Universe 7. Most of the story takes place in the Mortal Universe, where the audience is introduced to most of its characters, and watches as they train under Earth’s conditions. Otherwise known as Earth, the Mortal Universe provides Z-Fighters, aliens, and other powerful characters with the basics to grow as fighters, but should they wish to grow even stronger, they would need to seek out alternative means.

Some provide training with discipline, while others focus on inner strength, but each has their own style. Dimensions in Dragon Ball
The Perfect Opportunity For Training
- Dimension of Strange Swirling Lights — A dimension accidentally created during the battle between Gogeta and Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly
- Hyperbolic Time Chamber — The room of spirit and time, meant to be used for training and using the time difference inside the chamber to their advantage.
- Inside Whis’ Staff — A dimension created within Whis’ staff, meant to be used for training purposes.
- Limbo — Located between the Other World and the physical dimension, those who get lost in this dimension are stuck for eternity.
- Shinsenkai — A haunting dimension with endless mist and tombstones, meant for any Kami who wishes to give up their position as guardian.
Within the Dragon Ball universe there remain several dimensions that serve different purposes. For example, the lookout is home to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, a dimension where time passes incredibly slowly compared to the outside world. A day in the outside world is one year inside the chamber, which allows fighters to grow exponentially in a short time span, as seen with Saiyans like Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Trunks.
I was in the hyperbolic time chamber. I spent a year in there, but outside only a day had passed. That’s why I’ve grown a little.
Then, there are other dimensions that are created accidentally, such as the one that manifests during the battle in Dragon Ball Super: Broly. Limbo and Shinsenkai are dimensions that serve one soul purpose, with the former capturing unfortunate souls in an eternity of agony, while the latter is a place where a Kami goes when they are ready to pass of their role as guardian to their successor.
