Shinichiro Watanabe’s Lazarus Reveals Several New Cast Members

The official website of the upcoming original sci-fi anime created by legendary director Shinichirō Watanabe, Lazarus, has revealed 14 new cast members on Friday. The highly anticipated anime by the director of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo is being produced for airing on Toonami by staff at Studio MAPPA. The 14 voice actors were revealed without their character credits, with the production staff asking fans to look forward to seeing what kinds of roles they would get.

Previously announced cast members include Mamoru Miyano, Makoto Furukawa and Maaya Uchida, and the series is set to broadcast on April 5.

The Lazarus anime has a lot to boast about when it comes to the individuals involved in its production, and the cast is filled with big names who have had significant roles in various high-profile anime projects, especially MAPPA productions like Jujutsu Kaisen and Banana Fish. The previously announced cast of Lazarus includes Mamoru Miyano, best known for his role as Light Yagami in Death Note as Axel; Makoto Furukawa, voice of Saitama in One Punch Man as Doug, and Maaya Uchida, voice actor of Rikka Takanashi in KyoAni’s Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! as Christine.

Megumi Fushiguro voice actor Yūma Uchida as Leland; Manaka Iwami, who voiced Tōru Honda in the 2019 reboot of Fruits Basket as Eleina; legendary singer and voice actor Megumi Hayashibara, famous for her role as Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion as Hersch; Black Jack Akio Ōtsuka as Abel and Kōichi Yamadera, who plays Beerus in Dragon Ball Super, as Skinner. The 14 new cast members are the following:

• Yūichi Nakamura, best known as the voice of Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen
• Tomokazu Sugita, the voice of Gintoki from Gintama and the titular character of SAKAMOTO DAYS
• Shōya Chiba, voice of Kiyotaka Ayanokōji in Classroom of the Elite
• Neeko, the titular character of Katekyō Hitman Reborn!
• Daisuke Ono, Jōtarō Kūjō, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
• Kazuhiko Inoue, Tōichirō Suzuki, Mob Psycho 100
• Satoshi Hino, Ainz Ooal Gown, Overlord
• Sumire Uesaka, Hahari in the currently airing second season of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You
• Hidenori Takahashi, Reflejo, Tower of God Season 2
• Kōki Uchiyama, voice of Tomura Shigaraki in the My Hero Academia franchise
• Kenshō Ono, Akutagawa in Bungō Stray Dogs
• Aoi Tada, the voice of Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV from Cowboy Bebop
• Ayane Sakura, voice of Gabi Braun in Attack on Titan
• Yoshiko Sakakibara, voice of Sir Integral Wingates Hellsing in Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate
