Having trouble completing Skeleton In The Closet? Here’s how to complete this Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 side quest with ease.

How To Start The Thieves’ Code In KCD2

After players complete the Feast for the Poor Side-Quest for Chenyek, they will be called to the Guild once more. (Henry can open the map and notice a new Quest Marker in the Guild’s hideout.) Go to the Hole in the Wall tavern and speak to him. He will tell Henry that he has a new job that requires his ‘particular set of skills.’

Players will have to travel to the marker location and try to recover the mysterious Thieves’ Code from the old fence Hynek. Chenyek says that he has already sent Hog to visit Hynek, but he worries that the lout might mess it up somehow, so Henry will have to go and ‘supervise.’

How To Find Hynek’s House In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Hynek’s House is in the corner of the north exit/entrance to Kuttenberg, so players cannot miss it. Just upon entering, you’ll notice something is awfully wrong Hynek lies dead in the kitchen, and Hog looks perplexed next to his body. According to Hog, Hynek just “killed himself” (yeah, right). Henry can choose to reprimand him or play along; it doesn’t matter.

What matters most is to pick up two different items from Hynek’s house. One is a Letter inside Hynek’s pocket, which you can get simply by looting his body. Pick up Hynek’s Letter and read it to receive the next step of the mission. Then, go pick the other item: the Cellar Door Key inside a chest in the pantry (the room opposite to the one where the corpse is).

How To Solve The Thieves’ Code Riddle In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

When players read Hynek’s Letter, they will notice there’s some sort of riddle or code written on it, and it’s not the code Henry is looking for. The riddle reads as follows:

A vineyard in the town? Strange, but who knows! And yet, there it is, quite nearby. By the water that gushes, now listen and try to keep your eyes open, so that you can tell shortly after the midday bell, you’ll find us where the shadow goes.

You can return to Chenyek for some advice, but there’s not much he can offer, except maybe a clue about the gushing water part of the riddle: a fountain.

There’s only one fountain in the city, next to Kuttenberg’s Western Gate. Travel there, wait for midday, and watch as the shadow points towards a Trader Shop, the one behind the NPC that starts the Quest In Vino Veritas.

Enter the store, and go to the door behind the trader. Don’t worry, Henry won’t be entering a restricted zone here. Open the door next to the stairs, and descend to the cellar. Look for a Rusty Old Door, and open it using the Cellar Door Key from Hynek’s house.

Inside, players will find a chest with a simple lockpick they need to bust. In the chest they’ll find cobwebs, some old clothes, and the item they’re looking for: the Parchment with drawings.

Should You Let Knuckles Copy The Thieves’ Codes, Or Give Them To Chenyek?

Fortunately, there’s no harm in letting either Knuckles or Chenyek copy the codes. Players will lose nothing if they show Knuckles the codes first, then go and deliver them to Chenyek.

To complete The Thieves’ Code quest, return to the tavern and give the codes to Chenyek, who will offer a little more information regarding what they mean. After that, the Quest will be concluded and players will be rewarded with a reputation boost, and Thievery Experience.
