The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies introduces the small business system. This allows Sims to run small businesses from their home lot, or a small business lot. It differs from Get To Work by offering rewards and goals as well as a wider range of activities which you can earn money for.

The Esteemed Entrepreneur aspiration is a great way to be guided through the mechanics of the new small business system. From setting up to gaining recognition, this aspiration will help you through the different stages of business ownership.
Esteemed Entrepreneur Aspiration Guide
The Esteemed Entrepreneur is a four-stage aspiration which follows the steps of leveling up a small business. It gives you goals at each level to help you work your way towards fame and fortune. However, the goals here are very broad, which means they can be confusing and difficult to hit.
We recommend considering this a secondary aspiration. You’ll tend to find you’ve completed the minor goals but need to wait for your business to level up to hit the last one. At this point, you can swap to another aspiration. We recommend Master Mentor, since mentoring can be done through your business, as can holding classes.
Useful Traits For Sims
There are a few useful traits for this aspiration, although the value of them is variable.
Creative – If you’ll be producing items for your business, this one is a must. You’ll be inspired more often, leading to better results when crafting and producing items for sale.
Practice Makes Perfect – Skill level more slowly to begin with but then increases quickly. This really helps beat the grind of higher level skills and is especially useful for creating high quality items quickly.
Check out the other skill-specific traits, such as Master Maker, to see if you can benefit from a boost when crafting the specific items you are selling.
Self-Assured – Confidence is key in business and in dealing with customers. Self-assured helps your Sim to interact with others more easily.
Outgoing – Having the outgoing trait can also help Sims build social relationships much faster. Since customers love the personal touch in business this is a must.
Aspiration Reward: Beloved Brand Trait
This trait will help boost any other small businesses you open, with success coming more easily and customers leaving more positive reviews.

How To Complete The Esteemed Entrepreneur Aspiration
There are four parts to this aspiration. Here’s how to complete them all.
Milestone |
Tasks |
Notes |
---|---|---|
Friendly Founder |
Grow Your Small Business To A Hopeful Hustle |
To achieve this you just need to keep opening the doors. Your business will grow as long as you offer a good service at a reasonable price. The first level isn’t too hard to hit, and you’ll likely do this as you gain your 20 customers. |
Have 20 Customers Visit Your Small Business |
Again, just open the doors. Customer flow will be slower to start, but as long as you’ve not added a lot of compulsory restrictions to your target customers, this isn’t too difficult. |
|
Acquire A Small Business Perk |
These early perks come with the first business level. We recommend a perk or two in tip jar, then following your preferred alignment. |
|
Popular Operator |
Grow your Small Business To A Striving Startup |
Keep following the end-of-day tips and regularly opening your business to hit the required level. Slow and steady helps here. |
Reach The First Level Of Dreamer Or Schemer Alignment |
To do this, click on a Sim and navigate to the Small Business social menu. Here you can choose an option with the flying duck icon for dreamer and the purple cat for schemer. Keep using these interactions with customers to level your alignment. |
|
Hire An Employee And Become Friends With Them |
To hire an employee, open the small business menu and choose Manage Employees. This is the person with a wrench icon next to open/close. Click Select a Sim to Hire and choose your new employee. You must have spoken to them to see them appear. |
|
Honored Home Businessperson |
Get A Happy Customer |
Happy Customers are unlocked after you reach the second level of your alignment. They will come naturally. |
Grow Your Small Business To A Neighbourhood Gem |
Keep growing your business. The best way to do this is to take note of the end-of-day feedback and add decorations, reduce prices, increase customer interaction etc based on the recommendations. |
|
Reach The Second Level Of Dreamer Or Schemer Alignment |
This is easy to do. Just keep performing the required interactions with customers. |
|
Esteemed Entrepreneur |
Grow Your Small Business To A Local Legend |
Again, this is time. These high levels will take a while, so feel free to do another task and come back to complete this once your business has grown. |
Get 5 More Happy Customers |
This one is just a case of providing a good service. |
|
Reach The Third Level of The Dreamer Or Schemer Alignment |
Again, this is mostly leveled just by doing interactions through the Small Business social menu. You may also find moral dilemmas which pop up and can affect your alignment, so make sure to check the answers! |
