Diablo 4 has revealed that Belial, one of Diablo 3‘s bosses, will be added to the game in Season 8. The Diablo 4 seasons always fill Sanctuary with new dangers at every turn, and among these challenges are some very familiar names, especially to veteran players.

Right from the game’s launch, the Butcher became a nightmare for Diablo 4 players, who suffered countless deaths at the hands of the infamous demon that debuted in the first Diablo. In Season 5, it was Diablo 4‘s turn to bring in the Fell Council, a quintet of honorable men who led Zakarum during the events of Diablo 2. However, they were corrupted in their fight against Mephisto and turned into demons. For Diablo 4‘s next season, players can expect to see another familiar face and a threat of major proportions.

Belial will be in Diablo 4 as one of Season 8’s endgame bosses. The big news was shared during the Campfire Chat on March 7, which gave players an overview of what to expect from the season. The addition of Diablo 3‘s classic enemy comes as part of the massive changes to Diablo 4‘s endgame bosses. They will now be divided into three tiers: Initiate, Greater, and Exalted. Belial will be the boss of the highest tier, and to summon him, gamers must have a Betrayer’s Husk. Although the challenge is great, defeating Belial promises to be rewarding, with the chance for players to obtain Ancestral Unique items.

Who is Belial, Diablo 4’s New Endgame Boss

One of Diablo‘s most powerful demons, Belial is one of the four Lesser Evils and the brother of Azmodan. Unlike other demons, Belial followed in the footsteps of his mentor, Mephisto, and made intrigue one of his greatest weapons, earning the title of Lord of Lies. In Diablo 3, players encounter Belial in the last quest of the second act. The battle doesn’t start immediately, however, with the demon first calling on his army. When players defeat Belial’s soldiers, the real battle begins. The clash against the Lord of Lies happens in two phases, with his true form appearing in the second phase.

With the rework of the endgame bosses, in addition to Belial, Diablo 4 players will encounter Beast in the Ice, Grigoire, Lord Zir, Varshan, and Urivar as Initiate tier challenges. Andariel, Duriel, and Harbringer of Hatred will be the Greater tier bosses. It’s also important to note that Urivar and Harbinger of Hatred will only be available to owners of the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
