In addition to a new zone and a new season worth of endgame content, Patch 11.1 continues the story of World of Warcraft: The War Within. While it is recommended to fully catch up on the story before playing the Undermine campaign, you can skip right to it provided you are at least Level 80. Campaign progress also unlocks the D.R.I.V.E. system that allows you to get around Undermine quickly. There is also some powerful rewards at the end of the campaign, so it is worth going through it aside from seeing how the story will continue to unfold in the World-Soul Saga.
There are spoilers below. Proceed with caution.

References to the Undermine go back all the way to the days when World of Warcraft was in development, and at long last players can finally go there in the second chapter of the Undermine campaign. Before continuing the campaign, you will want to go across the street to where you see an upside-down purple triangle on your mini-map. Talking to this NPC unlocks the ability to teleport from Dornogal to Undermine and vice versa.
