Where To Find Monster Broth In Monster Hunter Wilds

There are a great many materials in Monster Hunter, many of them long-standing traditions across the series. Monster Hunter Wilds introduces many new materials of its own, but a massive amount return as well. But even returning materials have to be found in brand-new locations through new methods.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Affinity, Explained

Affinity is central to combat, but Monster Hunter Wilds never tells you that. Here’s what it is.

Monster Broth is one such item, a common item from across the series. Typically restricted to insectoid monsters, it has always been a more common drop from the smaller insects than the large ones. That’s not changed too much in Wilds, though there are some fun new ways to stock up on Monster Broth in no time.

Where To Get Monster Broth

Monster Broth is a material that can be acquired exclusively from insectoid monsters. This can be gotten as a Target Reward from a High Rank Lala Barina, though you’re otherwise restricted to the smaller monsters such as Comapchi and Bulaqchi. It can be gained as a Target Reward from Optional Quests for small monsters as well, though you would have better luck just defeating these monsters to carve it from them.

There is an issue with this, however. Small Monsters, being too tiny to survive your massive weapons, have a rather high chance of simply exploding when defeated. This can be avoided with the use of the Entomologist skill, so make sure to slot that in whenever you go hunting for them.

However, there is an even easier solution, and that requires defeating all of Nerscylla’s many offspring. During any hunt with Nerscylla, they will typically be accompanied by the much smaller Nerscylla hatchlings. And there are so many of them, a genuinely hilariously large number of them.

Nerscylla Hatchlings can also be found while exploring, though they are much more copious during a proper hunt against Nerscylla.

Defeat all of these Hatchlings as you come across them and make sure to carve. The only item they drop is Monster Broth, so you’re guaranteed to get it. Even better, they just don’t seem to explode at all either, so you can be as reckless as you want when fighting them. Once Nerscylla retreats to its nest, there will be an innumerable amount of Hatchlings. And that means it’s open season for Monster Broth.

Following this method, you will have more Monster Broth than you could ever need in no time. You will be coming back with tens of Monster Broth from a single hunt. The sheer efficiency of this hunting method far outpaces any other. So get farming.

How To Use Monster Broth

Now that you’ve effectively culled the Nerscylla population, you should have more Monster Broth than you’d ever really need. The item has a good few uses, but they are finite, so only a few hunts should be enough to get all the Monster Broth you would ever need.

Monster Broth is used in creating various insect-related pieces of equipment, both weapons and armour, as well as the various Kinsects used for the Insect Glaive. For example, both the King Beetle and Butterfly sets require plenty of Monster Broth, while Nerscylla and Lala Barina are the only Large Monsters that need Monster Broth to create their weapons and equipment.

The most distinct use for Monster Broth is in the Insect Glaive, and its Kinsects specifically. Kinsects must be upgraded in Wilds, and Monster Broth is needed to reach the highest levels. This is regardless of the path you followed when raising your Kinsects. The highest levels will always need the same materials, and that included Monster Broth.
