Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – 8 Best Early-Game Side Quests
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has some great side quests, but these are the best early on.
You’ll find these two friends arguing about their love for art, and they’ll ask for your aid in their pursuit of their dream of obtaining a lute for their songs. This will start the Troubadours quest, which will have you stealing a lute, fighting drunkards, and shoveling mounds of dung.
How To Start The Troubadours Quest
To unlock the Troubadours quest, you need to find the artist duo: George and Michael. They can be found seated in the outdoor area of Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn, under a shaded section. Approach them and listen to their conversation about poetry.
Eventually, they’ll talk to you about a lute and how much they want one for their songs. They’ll then reveal that they’ve tried getting a lute from a carpenter in Troskowitz.
They’ll ask for your help in retrieving it, and they’ll mention that it’s just hanging on the wall of the carpenter’s home in Troskowitz. If you speak with the carpenter, he’ll express his disapproval at the idea of parting with the lute as it is the property of a client. You will need to steal the lute instead if you want to truly help out George and Michael.
Where To Find The Carpenter’s Lute
The lute is hanging on the wall of one of the rooms in the carpenter’s house. From the main entrance, the room on the left is where the lute is located. The doors will be open for you to go through during the day, but you can be easily spotted if you try to take the lute. It’s better to wait until evening and attempt to steal the lute then.
Guards will be patrolling the area in the evening. Make sure to steer clear of their attention if you attempt to steal the lute at night. Remember that guards will find you suspicious if you go around without a lit torch at night.
Once evening comes, enter the home and pick the lock on the door to the lute’s room. Once inside, head for the wall on the southwest edge of the room. It will be dark but you should be able to see a faint outline of a lute hanging from the wall.
Take it and exit the residence quietly.
How To Repair The Broken Lute
Return to George and Michael with the lute. Once you show them the lute, a drunken man named Drslav will approach the table, play the lute, and end up breaking the strings. Based on your conversation with him, you may end up fighting him.
Hit him a couple of times and he’ll yield. Talk to him, then he’ll run off and you can speak to George and Michael again. They’ll ask for your help in repairing the lute and you will have the option to end the quest or to continue.
If you agree to help them, they will send you to meet the gamekeeper, Vostatek. This man is a hunter who lives in a secluded home in the north with his wife and son. If you haven’t completed the side quest Lackey yet, Vostatek will be missing and you will need to rescue him before proceeding to the next part of the Troubadour quest.
If Vostatek has been rescued, you can ask him for help in repairing the lute. He will need sheep guts to make new strings, and you can obtain this by either hunting sheep or buying them from a butcher.
You can easily purchase sheep guts from the butcher in Troskowitz.
Once you have the sheep guts, return to Vostatek and have him make the strings. Once it’s ready, you can return to George and Michael.

It’s dangerous to go alone, take this dog, and maybe a trusty old steed.
How To Pay Off George And Michael’s Debt
Even after receiving the fixed lute, George and Michael will still express distress because the innkeeper apparently is not allowing them to leave until they settle their bill. Unfortunately, the innkeeper does not seem interested in accepting payment and wants them to work off their bill instead.
You can opt to leave them with their troubles or you can help them get out of their bill and continue the quest. If you want to help them, you will first need to speak with the innkeeper. He’ll tell you that he tasked the two artists with some menial work that they haven’t gotten around to doing.
You will need to convince the innkeeper to take money instead, challenge him, or do the work yourself if you want George and Michael to be able to leave freely.
Dig Out The Latrine Next To The Outhouse
The first task at hand is to dig out the dung-filled latrine next to the outhouse. The outhouse is along the east edge of the inn, and you’ll find a mound of dirt as well as a mound of dung on either side of it.
You’ll need a spade to start digging. If you don’t have one in your inventory, you can pick up the one sticking out of the dirt next to the outhouse. Dig out the latrine with your spade to complete the task.
You can dig out the latrine before speaking to the innkeeper. If you do, speaking to him will trigger a funny conversation where he’ll ask why in the world you were digging it up for no reason.
Transfer The Sacks In The Courtyard
The next task at hand is to transfer eight sacks from the courtyard to a spot in a building. The building is northwest of where the sacks are sitting. You’ll need to take each sack one by one to the building to complete the quest.
Make sure to place the sack in the correct storage. If you just drop it on the ground, it won’t count in your progress.
After transferring all eight sacks, return to the innkeeper. He’ll agree to let George and Michael go. Speak to them to complete the quest and they’ll sing a song of your heroic deeds in gratitude.
