My Hero Academia Vigilantes Will Be A Short Anime

My Hero Academia Vigilantes pop step

Fans of My Hero Academia have been waiting for the anime adaptation of Vigilantes, a spin-off series that takes place before Deku’s story.

Fans were treated to a trailer earlier and they also have a release date for this anime. MHA Vigilantes is scheduled to release soon, on April 7, 2025, which is only about a month away now.

Now, one big question fans still had on their minds is how many episodes this season of Vigilantes: My Hero Academia would have. This spin-off is, by no means, a short one in the manga, and the studio has a good amount of content to adapt. Thankfully for the fans, recently, the episode of MHA Vigilantes surfaced online, and fans can breathe a sigh of relief. My Hero Academia Vigilantes will have a total of 13 episodes, which makes it a short anime season.

13 episodes is not that much, but if the series does well, there’s no doubt that more content for this spin-off will follow after. After all, the My Hero Academia anime is ending soon, and the My Hero Academia manga has already ended, so Vigilantes would become the only form of content for MHA fans.

What is My Hero Academia: Vigilantes?

A MHA Prequel

Vigilantes is the spin-off of the hugely popular series, My Hero Academia. The manga for this series actually ran for quite some time, between 2016 and 2022, which is 6 whole years and quite a good run for any series. The series concluded with 15 volumes in total, which gives animators a lot to work with.

It’s important to note, however, that Vigilantes wasn’t written by Horikoshi, the original mangaka of MHA. Instead, it was written by Hideyuki Furuhashi. Horikoshi does consider the series canon though.

The events of MHA Vigilantes unfold 5 years before the events of the main story with Deku. The main character here is Koichi, who is recruited to become a vigilante.
