Within Sanrio, you can literally find hundreds of characters. Some, like Chococat and Cinnamoroll, are quite iconic, while others are a little less popular. Across the franchise, you can find tons of different species, with some characters even resembling humans.
Here, we are going to take a look at some of the best human Sanrio characters out there. While they are humanoid in appearance, most of these characters are still just as adorable as the more fantastical Sanrio characters out there. Many of these characters aren’t as well known either, so we’ll go over a bit of their personal information.

Minna No Tabo
Minna No Tabo is quite a popular little human, both in our world and in the Sanrio universe. Typically placing in the top 30 in Sanrio popularity polls, Minna no Tabo means “everyone’s Tabo” in Japanese. This is due to having a lot of friends; you can even see them joining him in the picture above.
Debuting in 1984, there is a lot we know about Tabo. For example, he likes to swim, doesn’t like green peppers, and has 40 friends (with many of them being animals). Interestingly, his dream is to become Santa Claus. Also, we’d like to give a special shoutout to his Grandma, whose only description is “Dad’s mother”.

The Vaudeville Duo
A pair from the ’80s, The Vaudeville Duo is composed of two humans named Eddy and Emma (let’s not forget about their white dog named Elf though). The Vaudeville Duo live in New York and were born on the same day (in the same hospital), but they aren’t twins; they are just friends.
Eddy dreams of becoming a director, while Emma dreams of becoming a Broadway actress, so the two pair well together. If you are unsure of what Vaudeville is, this is essentially a type of theatrical entertainment involving music, dancing, comedy, and even magic. Although Eddy and Emma are still children, we wish them the best in following their dreams!

Dean The Bean
You’ve probably never heard of Dean the Bean, huh? Rather than being just one human, this is a group of (American) football players. So, what’s the deal with this team? Honestly, we have no idea. Although they debuted in 1987, there is practically no information about them.
We love that the name seems like it’s just one person, but it refers to them all.
Still, just look at the art of these little football players. We don’t fully know what they look like, but we do know that they are just trying their best. The mysteriousness drew us in, and the simplicity earned them a spot on our list.

Chunenheroine Ojisan
What could be better than middle-aged men and magical girls? That’s exactly what Chunenheroine Ojisan is! This trio of middle-aged heroines is a bit unknown, especially since there is not much content surrounding them. Although they debuted in 2015, they only appeared on the yearly Sanrio ranking three years before disappearing.
We do know a few things about Chunenheroine Ojisan, even though they don’t have an official Sanrio profile. The three have a special skill of tea tasting, but only if it’s green tea. Additionally, a phrase that they commonly say is “I want to go home”.

Strawberry King & Angels
The Strawberry Angels is a group of seven characters, each with a head that looks like a giant strawberry. While technically angels, there is no denying that they just look like strawberry-headed humans. This absurd head shape is why we love them though. Together, the Strawberry Angels live in the Strawberry Kingdom, ruled by none other than the Strawberry King.
The angels themselves have some unique names, which you can check out below.
- Dandy
- Tommy
- Taffy
- Candy
- Socrates
- Cry Baby
- Stinky
We are a big fan of Socrates, who is described as always wearing glasses while being knowledgeable and studious. All of these strawberry heads debuted in 1975, which was quite early into Sanrio’s existence (after being renamed from Yamanashi Silk Company).
3
Culture Shock
This is another duo, composed of Yumenosuke and Tetsunoshin. Debuting in 1985, these two samurai traveled to Paris to learn all they could about Western culture. Currently, they aren’t the most popular, but it seems that in 1985, Sanrio was really pushing for the pair to become popular; they were featured on an incredibly wide range of Sanrio goods.
Regardless of whether they dropped in popularity or not, we love Culture Shock. From the unique name to the relaxing color palette used, this is just two men who really like learning about Western culture.
2
Tiny Poem
Tiny Poem is another Sanrio character from 1975. Her adorable name alone should be enough to convince you that she deserves a spot on our list. Although Tiny Poem has been around for a long time, we don’t really see her too often anymore.
Interestingly, we do know a fair bit about here. Tiny Poem likes to be outside and collect dandelions, and she also happens to have a boyfriend named Daichan! Just looking at her is enough to put a smile on your face.

Ikkuchan
Last but not least, we have Ikkuchan. Sanrio characters typically don’t look hand-drawn, but that’s what makes Ikkuchan unique. It’s fitting too, since Ikkuchan is described to always have a pen and paper in hand. This is because she loves writing haikus!
We don’t know who the adorable little dog next to her is, but we can only imagine that he sits by her side while Ikkuchan writes haikus. As a side note, it seems that her name is a reference to haikus as well; this poem style is sometimes referred to as ‘ikku’.
