Erik is supposedly waiting in the recently abandoned camp where King Sigismund’s army was stationed, but is it a trap? Players have a choice over whether they should accept Erik’s duel, and to help make up their mind, they can talk to various characters at Suchdol.

Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Accept Erik’s Duel In KCD2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 - Jan Zizka

There are a number of reasons not to accept Erik’s challenge, both in terms of role-play and game mechanics.

  • Musa just risked his life to save Henry from Erik and is now wounded.
  • Henry has many people at Suchdol who care about him.
  • Adder was just killed, so Henry should console others.
  • Henry might be wounded from the Italian Court, making the fight much harder.
  • Suchdol needs defenders.
  • Henry’s armor and weapons could take a beating, with no time to repair after.
  • Henry doesn’t want revenge on Erik, he wants to kill Markvart von Aulitz.
  • It could be a trap (it isn’t, but Henry does have to rush back).
  • You don’t get any loot from the fight, although Henry doesn’t know that heading in.

If players don’t want to accept Erik’s proposal, they should talk to Jan Zizka. Beware that this will trigger the next part of the story.

The best horses in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 can typically be bought from horse traders in the Kuttenberg region, but there are two surprises.

When they are ready, go up to the main gate of Suchdol’s outer bailey and tell the guard you wish to leave. This will trigger a cutscene. The following tips should help players beat Erik in KCD2, but expect a challenge.

  • Insult Erik before the duel to knock his confidence.
  • Use heavy weapons, such as a mace, as he’s in full plate armor.
  • Use feints and combos. Normal attacks won’t be enough to beat Erik.

After the duel, Henry will ride back to Suchdol to start the So It Begins quest.
