One-Punch Man Season 3 has just revealed its first trailers, and fans are already mad. One of the greatest hits of the last decade, new episodes of One-Punch Man will finally be out in late 2025 after over six years of waiting.
However, not all the news has been great. Season 2 was out four years after the first one, and it had major changes to the staff and studio (from Madhouse to J.C. Staff). Season 3 will be released this year and, while the main staff is mostly the same, such a long time between seasons usually means that the anime has gone through major production issues.

What Are OPM Fans Mad About?
New Trailer Is Out, But…
The first trailer for OPM Season 3 has finally been released, and while some were happy enough to have a glimpse of the new episodes, other fans quickly went to social media to underline a few issues they have with the trailer.
A user on Reddit claimed to be disappointed with the trailer because the animation doesn’t seem to live up to the first season. They also added that the trailer only had two thousand views on YouTube at the time, which was promptly countered by other users who pointed out that it takes some time for YouTube views to update (at the time of writing, the official video has over 750,000 views).
Another user agreed with the complaints, adding that they have been waiting so long for the season, but didn’t like the trailer:
Someone tell me that trailer was fake. Who let that out of the studio? There are genuinely more frames in a single page of the manga than there was in that entire trailer. I’ve been waiting since 2018 for the Monster association arc to be animated but genuinely I’m not gonna get to see anything decently animated.
A third one complained about the studio:
I knew not to trust JC Staff, but it’s been 6 years since S2. The anime industry has evolved, many anime have great animation, others have “average” animation but they make up for it with other things. But not this, this looks cheap. In the animated scenes they don’t even make backgrounds, it’s like the battle of Garou and Metal Bat all over again.
Not Everyone Is Unhappy With the Trailer
While some fans were angry and frustrated, others quickly dismissed the claims and said that the trailer was not bad. One user defended that it looks better than the previous season:
The characters look like they have more detail than S2 already and the tiny slither of motion we see is fine. It might be “hopium”, but as someone who enjoyed the second season on blu-ray after a brief recalibration of expectations, this could still be really nice! But I understand if many feel OPM deserved the best.
Another one added that J.C. Staff is not an “unknown” studio, but added that the trailer could be better in their opinion:
Did…. Did you just call jc staff and tms no name studios? Brother do you even know anything? Tms made madhouse, it was through its funding that madhouse was created, you know, the studio that made the season 1 of OPM you love so much and jc staff has the most connections in the industry, a no name studio does not have that many connections […].
But I have to say, this pv… Was not it, while the parts that did have animation were good enough, the still frames looks weirdly out of place. It was like trying to imitate the manga style but not quite hitting the mark, but I hear it was done by one guy just for the pv so in that regard, it’s not the worst.
While fans will always want the best for any series they like, it is important to note that this trailer is likely to be very different from the final product. While the PV may have relied too much on impactful frames, and left the action behind, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the anime will be like that.
However, there was a lot of commotion when Season 2 aired because, for many fans, J.C. Staff animation wasn’t on par with what Madhouse did in the first season. For now, it seems that the One Punch Man fanbase will have its “Sakamoto Days moment” for some time.
Just out of curiosity, a fan compared the trailer with the manga, which may give a different perspective on it:
A J.C. Staff producer recently tried to assure fans that the new season will not disappoint them.
