One eager Monster Hunter Wilds fan recently shared a tip that allows players to gather resources while scrolling or using their d-pad instead of aiming at each material individually. Monster Hunter Wilds has proven to be a massive success for Capcom, as it sold eight million copies in three days and has become the company’s fastest-selling title ever.
Capcom recently announced the launch of its first limited-time event quests in Monster Hunter Wilds, which will be available through March 18. The quests will give gamers the opportunity to earn things like armor, materials, and ingredients as long as players meet the prerequisite conditions. As of writing, all fans wishing to take advantage of the quests will need to have reached Hunter Rank 9 or higher. The developers have stated that they already have more events planned for the future.
In a recent post on Reddit, MidshipEnd shared that players can use their slinger in Monster Hunter Wilds to gather resources without looking at them by using the d-pad on their controller to select nearby materials. The video they included shows their character staring straight ahead while firing their slinger in various directions to collect anything useful within range. When traveling through an area, a list of nearby resources will appear on the left side of the screen, letting the player know what’s around them. Many didn’t know that the same pop-up could be used to navigate which items one might like to collect.
MidshipEnd explained that, in order to do this on console or PC, the player must make sure they’ve sheathed their weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds. Afterward, the person needs to use their normal aim command, then they will be free to utilize the d-pad or their preferred keybinding to scroll through the resources listed on the left side of the screen. Once that’s done, the player can simply use their usual grab command to collect the selected material.
Many fans were flabbergasted by the tip, with some claiming that they’d played for dozens of hours and never figured out this somewhat hidden mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds. Some said they couldn’t believe that there was an even easier way to gather resources, given that they already found aiming the slinger around to be rather convenient. Others were shocked that it had taken so long for someone to discover the trick and post it on social media, as it seems so useful for all players. With a whole new game to explore and a world of monsters to conquer, many gamers are looking forward to seeing how Capcom expands on the popular title in the future.
