Likewise, the ability to bring two weapons into the field and switch on the Seikret gives players plenty of reason to always have a ranged weapon on hand. Anytime the player wants to keep their distance, they can do so with a quick swap. These changes alone should see a significant influx of Monster Hunter players using of bows and bowguns.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ Light Bowgun’s Rapid-Fire Mode Shines
Major changes for Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Light Bowgun are its first major change. The Light Bowgun’s Normal Ammo now shoots a 3-shot burst, and Spread and Pierce Ammo are now in infinite supply. The Light Bowgun also now has a Rapid-Fire mode that can be used with any ammo type, enabling powerful combos. As for Special Ammo, the Wyvernblast trap can now be swapped out for Adhesive Ammo, a delayed explosive that deals increasing damage the more it’s been shot before it detonates. Light Bowguns have a much easier time piling on damage in Monster Hunter Wilds than they did previously.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Heavy Bowguns Have Some Fearsome New Maneuvers
Similar changes to ammo types are seen with Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Heavy Bowguns, and they provide just as much utility as they do for the Light Bowguns, albeit without Rapid Fire. Aside from that, the Heavy Bowgun’s gains two new Special Ammo types. Joining World‘s Wyvernheart and Wyvernpiercer, Heavy Bowguns have access to Wyverncounter, a powerful close-range explosion, and Wyvernblast, a shot that bombards its target with explosive rounds. These additions to the Heavy Bowgun give it meaningful punch to make up for the user’s slow movement. In their latest iteration, Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Heavy Bowguns are weapons that should certainly be feared.

Bows Have Plenty of Trick Shots in Monster Hunter Wilds
Players will find a lot of extra flair in the design of Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Bows. Players no longer have to craft arrow coatings, with the new Trick Arrow gauge controlling them instead. The Trick Arrow gauge also permits the use of Tracer Arrows, which turn other arrows into homing shots. While the rain of projectiles that World‘s Bow combo used is gone, hunters now have the option of finishing combos with a variant of the powerful Dragon Piercer shot instead. Players can even fire while dodging to leap dramatically into the air with the new Flying Swallow Shot, making Monster Hunter Wilds‘ bow a true spectacle to behold in combat.
Bows and Bowguns feel like a better choice than ever to bring into Monster Hunter Wilds‘ hunts. The revamped movesets of these weapons offer a lot of potential for players to experiment with, not to mention devastating damage potential from a few of their new tricks. Of course, which of these weapons is the best will be up to player preference, just as it was in past games. Regardless, Bow and Bowgun users should be able to find plenty to be happy about in Monster Hunter Wilds.
