FragPunk is a roller coaster of a ride, pitting players in 5v5 hero-shooter action, where they can change the rules of each game with Shard Cards. On top of manipulating how each game plays out, FragPunk also offers a roster of unique characters known as Lancers, each with their own set of abilities that switch up the gameplay.

While many aspects of FragPunk are unique, there are still some familiar features from other games. For instance, those diving into many of their matches will be pitted into two teams: Attackers and Defenders, with their roles reversing midway through the game. Just like in other games, each team will also have to plant and defuse a device, with FragPunk’s twist being the Converter. Here is a guide on how to plant and defuse the Converter in FragPunk.

How To Plant The Converter In FragPunk

The Attacking team has two ways to win in FragPunk’s main game mode, Shard Clash: either eliminate all members of the enemy team or plant and successfully detonate the Converter. After deciding the rules for the current round, the Attackers will prepare for the upcoming round, and this is when a team member can pick up a Converter. Typically, only one Converter is available per round, making it a priority for the player who carries it.

The Attackers’ goal is simple: stay alive and successfully plant the Converter at either A Site or B Site, both of which are marked on the map for easy tracking. Once at either site, the player with the Converter must hold the button bound to the Converter to plant it. By default, this button is Down on the D-Pad for controllers or “4” on keyboards—though players can change this at any time in their settings.

Once planted, the Converter will take 50 seconds to detonate. During this time, the Attackers must defend the Converter from Defenders attempting to defuse it, while also staying alive. Attackers can still win by eliminating all members of the opposing team even if the Converter is planted—making it a great way to bait out hidden enemies. If the Converter detonates successfully, the Attackers will automatically be granted victory.

If the Converter carrier is eliminated, the device will be dropped for another player to carry.

How To Defuse The Converter In FragPunk

While the Attackers’ goal is to plant the Converter, the Defending team must stop them—either by eliminating the entire enemy team or defusing the Converter if it has been planted. If the Converter is planted at either the A or B Site, players will be alerted, with a 50-second timer counting down. Additionally, the location of the planted Converter will be marked on the HUD, allowing Defenders to track it.

Eliminating the entire enemy team after the Converter has been planted will not end the game, so Defenders must successfully defuse it to secure victory. To do so, Defenders simply need to be near the device and hold down the button bound to the Converter. Just like the Attackers, this button is Down on the D-Pad for controllers or “4” on keyboards by default.
