Many fans have been enjoying Monster Hunter Wilds and taking down the various kinds of large monsters that come with it. Taking down these beasts will also reward players with all manner of different materials. The most common use of these materials will be for forging and upgrading many new pieces of armor and weapons.
Players will come across Frost Sacs during their travels, but these are not the same thing as Freezer sacs. While the two may serve a similar purpose, they are in fact entirely different materials. Something these 2 materials share in common is that players will need to farm a large amount of them over the course of the game.

Where to get Freezer Sac drops in Monster Hunter Wild
Freezer Sac is a material that can drop from 2 different large monsters in the game. The first area players will travel to will be the Scarlet Forest, which connects to the starting location. Players will then use the Scarlet Forest to reach the Oilwell Basin. This location will connect them to where they will start encountering many of the game’s ice-themed monsters. Players will keep progressing the story until they have encountered 3 Hirabami monsters.
Once players have completed the story mission against the 3 Hirabami, they will be able to take on a single Hirabami as an optional quest. However, trying to farm Freezer Sac now will be pointless, as players will not yet have progressed past Low Rank. Players will need to continue to progress through the game’s story until they are able to face off against this monster at High Rank. Another High Rank hunt that can yield Freezer Sac as a reward item will be for Jin Dahaad.
There is a 2-star chance of reward for a Freezer Sac to drop from either Hirabami or Jin Dahaad on High Rank.
Both Hirabami and Jin Dahaad will take more damage from Fire and Thunder than any other element in the game. Players will also want to avoid using any weapons that deal ice damage — as these will be ineffective.
What is Freezer Sac used for in Monster Hunter Wilds
Freezer Sac serves the same purpose as Frost Sac from Low Rank. It will be used by players to forge and upgrade specific armors and weapons. Having the right gear for the right monsters will be required for players to keep pushing their Hunter Rank to new heights.
Weapons that need Freezer Sac to forge:
- Windsunder Axe II
- Windbrace Bow II
- Windpierce lance II
- Windshear Light II
- Windthrash Charger II
In addition to the weapons listed above, Freezer Sac will also be used to craft armor set pieces from Hirabami, Jin Dahaad, and Blangonga. Blangonga is the only monster that needs this resource and does not drop it themselves.
