Just like Hazelight Studios’ previous two games, It Takes Two and A Way Out, Split Fiction treats co-op as a core element of its identity and gameplay.
Unless you can deftly control two characters at once with two controllers, playing Split Fiction single player is not an option. However, there are several ways to find other players to play Split Fiction with.

The time it takes to beat Split Fiction can vary depending on how long it takes you to complete levels – and how much of a completionist you are.
The beauty of Split Fiction multiplayer is that to play it online, only one player needs to own the game. Once you find someone to play with, if you or they already own the game, the other player doesn’t need to buy anything. They just need to get the Friends Pass, which is listed as a free download on the game’s store page on all platforms.
Before anything else, though, you will need to create an EA account and remember your username. To play Split Fiction online co-op, you must invite your partner via their EA account in-game.
- Join the Split Fiction Hazelight Discord server, complete the server introduction and read through the rules, then look in the list of Split Fiction channels for the ‘sf-looking-for-player’ channel.
- Try posting to subreddits focused on linking players together, like localmultiplayergames, coopgaming, and the official splitfiction subreddit – just be sure to use the correct tags so your post doesn’t get deleted.
- Instead of posting to Reddit, you can also post to the Steam Community forums, or similar community boards on consoles, which will match you with players who share the same platform.
In your post, it’s a good idea to include your preferred language, availability, whether you have access to a mic, and preferred console. Though Split Fiction has crossplay, it’s easier to connect with other players if you share the same platform.
