How to Attend a Class in The Sims 4
Players will need to have at least one small business in their save file to attend a class. The world from Businesses and Hobbies, Nordhaven, has two small businesses: Terra-Potta and Spilled Neon. Players can also build small businesses for Sims to visit if they play as multiple families in one save.
Classes can only be held if a Hobby Whiteboard is on a lot with a small business. Sim’s 4 classes are run by Sims level 3 or higher in a skill. To attend a class, take the following steps:
- Travel to a small business lot using a cellphone
- Purchase an Entry Ticket
- Click on a Hobby Board
- Choose “Ask to Start a Class…”
- Select from the available classes
- Choose a Sim to host the Class
- Complete the class objectives
Small businesses in the world will be marked by a dollar-sign symbol on the map. If the business is on a residential lot, a menu appears that shows the owner’s home and business. Choose the business to open and visit it.

Players must purchase an entry ticket at a Ticket Kiosk to register as a patron for classes and activities. After registering, find the Hobby Board and click on it. Choose “Ask to Start a Class,” and if there is an available host, players can start the class whenever they want.
Once the class starts, the objective list drops down to the top left side of the screen. Class objectives will change depending on what type of class it will be, but some consistent activities include:
- Listen to a lecture for 45 minutes
- Create a Ceramic
- Be mentored for 30 minutes
- Make a friend
- Be inspired
Players should do the longer activities to ensure they finish before class ends.
How to Earn a Gold Medal in Class
Stay active and keep track of the required activities to earn gold in a hobby class. The meter will fill all the way with green, and the medal shown will be gold when the Sim has done enough things.
Sims who earn gold in their classes will receive the Creative Brilliance buff, which boosts their Creativity skill performance and learning speed. Sims can take advantage of the buff and practice other Creativity skills such as painting, knitting, singing, and more. Sims can attend multiple classes a day, so learning skills is easier than ever with The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies.
