Split Fiction: Where To Find Every Bench

There are six different benches spread across the chapters for Mio and Zoe to sit on.

Nobody is capable of stopping this menace, so when Zoe and Mio step into his lair and find an adorable white feline with shining orange eyes ready to say hello, it feels like the Ice King has been an elaborate setup. Don’t be fooled, however, since after giving you a stern talking to, this domesticated animal will transform into a towering horned menace.

How To Defeat The Ice King – Phase One

The Ice King breaks through a mirror platform in Split Fiction.

The battle begins with the Ice King blowing Zoe and Mio onto a central platform that houses a mirror in the middle. Seconds after regaining your composure, the Ice King will break parts of the platform until only the centre remains.

Avoid these attacks by following the on-screen prompts and paw-print signs until a cutscene is triggered, and our heroines change into their Monkey and Tree forms to begin fighting back. Now the real fun begins…

You will now find yourself on a larger circular platform where the majority of the boss battle will take place.

The Ice King will begin by throwing tall pillars of ice towards you that players can dodge by stepping or dashing between them, which will be followed by yet another ice-based attack that spreads across the arena. Jump over this one and stay alive.

The Ice King uses his ice pillar attack against Zoe and Mio in Split Fiction.

The Ice King will soon stand on his hind legs and leave himself vulnerable, revealing a crest wrapped around his mid-section that Zoe can grapple onto by using her tree form. Pull him to the ground and open him up to a barrage of attacks from Mio’s monkey form.

Whoever is playing as Zoe needs to be very quick in this situation, as failing to pull the Ice King down in time will result in him repeating his first pattern of attacks.

Zoe traps the Ice King using her vines in Split Fiction.

Now a solid chunk of his health has been depleted, the Ice King will begin dolling out yet another sequence of attacks.

Beginning with a bunch of molten ice spikes that dominate much of the boss arena, followed by him running through the centre and crushing any player unlucky enough to be standing there. Much like before, avoid this by dashing right when the attacks are about to land.

Watch out for his returning ice pillars too, this time with additional icicle projectiles.

Dodge about the place for long enough, avoiding these attacks, and the Ice King will stand up and open himself up to yet another grapple from Zoe. Rinse and repeat the previous steps to deal even more damage.

Zoe and Mio slide down an ice amp during the Ice King boss battle in Split Fiction.

Soon, another cutscene will trigger in which the ground beneath everyone is split open as it sends Mio and Zoe plummeting down an ice slide filled with all manner of obstacles.

Avoid them by jumping and then walk through the corridor and into what will be the final boss arena for this encounter.

How To Defeat The Ice King – Phase Two

Mio and Zio try to navigate an ice tornado in Split Fiction.

This part of the battle is considerably more complicated and requires both players to be on guard when it comes to avoiding attacks and reacting to environmental hazards.

The Ice King will immediately plunge both Mio and Zoe underwater before spawning an ice tornado right in the center of the screen with a flurry of smaller tornadoes spinning quickly around it.

Hang in there and the tornadoes will eventually vanish to reveal a small pool of water with a glowing red flower inside.

Mio's otter form interacts with a green flower in Split Fiction.

Transform into Mio’s otter form and swim down there to activate a flower which can be hurled to the surface for Zoe to grapple and hurl into the Ice King’s face.

Mio must now return to the surface to deal out some punishment by punching the Ice King in the face several times.

Zoe and Mio defeat the Ice King in Split Fiction.

Much like before, the window of opportunity is very small, so don’t stay in the water for too long, or you’ll need to repeat the above steps.

The Ice King will now freeze the pool of water and begin a new sequence of attacks that will send out a flurry of explosive balls that you must ensure detonate on the ice in order to crack it.

He will also unleash yet another tornado, but like before, the key to victory is to dodge and dash to your heart’s content until it disappears, and you can finally break the ice.

Once it is, transform into Mio’s Otter form and use Zoe to hurl the flower at the Ice King’s face for one final beatdown. Congratulations, you saved the kingdom!
