The mystery of the Secret Journal continues in Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s ‘Hot and Cold’ quest, which follows the events of the Sandcastle competition in ‘A Sandy Competition.’ ‘Hot and Cold’ is Jasmine’s Level 7 Friendship Quest where you get to find another key to finally open the Secret Journal and reveal more about the ongoing lore of the game. However, ‘Hot and Cold’ has a few steps, including tracking down the locations of all Pedestal symbols in the Frosted Heights and Sunlit Plateau biomes, which can be tricky.

While most symbols in the quest are pretty straightforward to find, others are well hidden and might take you a bit of time to locate them all. Fortunately, our Disney Dreamlight Valley ‘Hot and Cold’ guide lights the way, detailing the locations of all Pedestal symbols to help you unravel the ongoing mystery and open the Secret Journal at long last.
How to Start ‘Hot and Cold’ in Disney Dreamlight Valley (Jasmine Level 7 Friendship Quest)
To start Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s ‘Hot and Cold’ quest, you must reach Level 7 Friendship with Jasmine and meet the following requirements:
- Complete Jasmine’s Level 2 and Level 4 Friendship Quests, ‘The Enchanted Flower’ and ‘A Sandy Competition.’
- Unlock and progress with Elsa as a character.
- Unlock and progress with Mother Gothel.
- Unlock the Glade of Trust, Frosted Heights, and Sunlit Plateau biomes.
Providing you’ve already done all of the above, you can start ‘Hot and Cold’ as soon as you reach Level 7 Friendship with Jasmine by talking with her and choosing the ‘Hot and Cold’ dialogue option.
Disney Dreamlight Valley ‘Hot and Cold’ Quest Walkthrough
Kicking things off, the first step in ‘Hot and Cold’ is to talk to Elsa. Jasmine has found another clue to the Secret Journal and thinks another key to opening it is hidden in the Frosted Heights.
Go Inside Elsa’s Ice Cavern and Take Pictures of the Pedestal Symbols
After speaking to Elsa, travel to the Forest of Valor and go inside Elsa’s Ice Cavern to chat with Elsa again. While you likely have already opened the chest in Elsa’s Level 10 Friendship quest previously, there is now a mysterious blue chest trapped inside unbreakable ice beside two gray pedestals called the Sun and Snow pedestals. However, it will take a bit of magic to open the chest. The first step is to take a picture of the two pedestals next to the blue chest, as pictured above.
Take Pictures of Pedestal Symbols in the Frosted Heights and Sunlit Plateau
Next, head to the Frosted Heights and Sunlit Plateau to take photos of the Sun and Snowflake symbols around each biome using your camera tool. You can do this in any order with five white Sun and five white Snow symbols painted on rocks around each biome, as located on the maps below:

While you’ll typically find all Sun and Snow Symbols around the edge of each biome on rocks, be sure to check near pools of water and up high and low, as some of the Symbols are cleverly hidden. You also need access to all areas in the Frosted Heights biome, requiring you to have your pickaxe upgraded to break large blocks of ice from progressing with Elsa.
Grab the Ice Key and Talk to Jasmine
Once you’ve photographed all the symbols, return to Elsa’s Ice Cavern to retrieve the Ice Key from the chest with the ice melted away. Talk to Jasmine again and go inside her and Aladdin’s house to examine the Enchanted Flower. Oddly, the Enchanted Flower containing the Secret Journal has mysteriously vanished!

Follow the Trail of Giant Petals and Confront Mother Gothel
After chatting with Jasmine again, follow her to the Plaza, where she spots something in the distance. Follow Jasmine to find a glowing petal on the ground, which – you guessed it – belongs to the Enchanted Flower. Talk to Jasmine again, then follow the trail of Giant Petals which leads you to the Glade of Trust and in front of Mother Gothel’s Willow Tree. Head inside the Willow Tree and confront Mother Gothel about the Enchanted Flower using any preferred dialogue option, depending on how annoyed you are with her.
Use the Ice Key to Open the Second Lock on the Secret Journal
After speaking to Mother Gothel, return to Aladdin and Jasmine’s house and interact with the Enchanted Flower to open the Secret Journal using the Ice Key – finally! Grab and give the Secret Journal to Jasmine, plus speak with her to discuss your surprising revelation. Of course, the mystery isn’t quite over yet, and you’ll need to complete Jasmine’s final level 10 Friendship Quest to see what happens next, where things start to get even stranger.
